SJU Baseball 2017

beat Hofstra 4-1 today. Play tomorrow at 1pm on campus against Hofstra

Huge 6th inning - nine runs - we have an 11-3 lead mid 7th.

14-3 final. Banged out 19 hits.

Two more home games (St Peter's and Columbia) before we head to Omaha to face Creighton and open BE play.

Be nice to be heading back to Omaha in late June...

Three game weekend series with Creighton starts tomorrow evening 7.30pm. Bluejays are 8-15.

"Series: Bluejays lead, 7-5
Facing off in their fourth season as BIG EAST foes, the Red Storm and Bluejays have met 12 times,
including four times at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. Creighton is just 1-3 against St. John's at home,
splitting the regular season series in 2015 and dropping both games in the BIG EAST Tournament that season.

Creighton took three of four from the Red Storm last season, eliminating St. John's in the BIG EAST Tournament to advance to the championship against Xavier."

So we owe them a little something...

On an RPI basis, we are ranked 26th, they are 269.

We win 3-2 in 14 innings. Looks like winning run came on a fielding error. Joe Smith with 4.1 innings in relief got the win. Remarkable that each team only used three pitchers. If this was MLB, each team would have emptied the bullpen...

L 7-4. We out hit them 13-8 but walked five and hit six of their guys which did not help our cause. Let's win the rubber tomorrow!

Lopresti who pitched a number of innings in relief on Friday is starting today. Injuries must be a problem.

Yeah, they jumped on LoPresti early and we lost 5-1. Their guy threw a 5 hit complete game.

114 crew going to the seton hall game if anyone wants to join us that saturday

Nice road win over Butler in extra innings. We were up 2-0 late but they tied it in the bottom of the 9th. SJU bounced back with 4 in the top of the 10th for a 6-2 win. Troy Dixon with a big 3 RBI double. Joe Kelly with 2 innings of hitless relief. We have 2 more in Indy before we head back to Queens.

5-3 win over Butler today. We were down 3-0 top 4th and got one back but busted it open in the 8th with 4 runs. Long ball was our friend today, 3 home runs. Great job by 6'5" freshman Joe LaSorsa in relief, 5 innings and only 2 hits.

This puts us at 3-2 in the BE and 25-5 overall. Go Redmen!

We just went hog wild top of the 11th, scored 7 runs with 2 outs!

Bases clearing double by Gui Gingras, 2 run homer by Anthony Brocato.

We tacked on 2 more. 12-3 final. 26-5, 4-2 BE.
