SJU Baseball 2017

9-0 win today over Fairleigh D. That leaves us 28-5 on the season. We have equaled the number of wins we got last year when we went 28-26-1.

Even though the quality of some of our opponents might be questionable, the team is put together a great year. Our RPI is 30. Only # 1 Oregon has fewer losses than us.

Not a good day at the office, lost 4-2 at home to a Princeton team that was 9-26-1 coming in. Unless I am misreading the scorecard, Jamie Galazin (an outfielder) started the game but only pitched one inning (scoreless). Matt Messier came in in the second and gave up 4 runs. That was all the Tigers needed. We got 2 in the bottom of the fourth but could only muster 6 hits. We left 11 men on base and committed 2 errors... Next up Seton Hall, 3pm on Friday.

Update - box score I had was messed up. Galazin did not start - he was the last relief pitcher to come into the game. That makes a lot more sense :silly: One positive from yesterday was the bullpen. Only 5 hits, 22 batters faced.

Ivy League has our number this year...

Tex, you seem to be a big baseball fan so maybe you can answer this question. Besides Panko and Amir do we have any other former players on any major league rosters ?

According to Baseball Reference, no. No doubt some posters remember Frank Gilhooley who played for St. Louis and the Yankees from 1911 - 1919.

It seems like with the apparent injuries that they don't have enough starting pitching for these mid week games.

As CT Storm mentioned, Baseball Reference is your friend.

We jumped on the Pirates early & often today in a 9-2 win (our 30th for the season). Three in the 1st, one in the 2nd, four in the 3rd...

Freshman Sean Mooney pitched seven innings and gave up only one run on five hits.

Second baseman Josh Shaw with 5 RBI on two doubles...

Two more @ home vs Seton Hall this weekend. Free admission on Sunday!

Shut out 7-0 today. First time all year we did not get a run in. Rubber game tomorrow, 1pm.

30-7, 5-3 in BE.

37 games first time shut out and probably first game you guys attended. Great job! ;) :)

2-1 win over the Hall in the rubber game. Left it laate, 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th when Mike Donadio doubled and a single by Jesse Berardi brought in the winning run. Great pitching today by Mike LoPresti and Joe LaSorsa.

31-7 overall and 6-3 in the BE (3rd place behind X and Creighton).

Next up: Iona at home on Tues. They are 17-17.

Was in the house or should I say yard today. Windy, overcast, cold day so friend and I resolved to leave after 9. 2 outs nobody on, double and single, just what the doctor ordered. :)

16-4 win over Iona today. Banged out 19 hits and a big 11 run second inning.

Next up, a 3 game set with the Hoya's in MD. They are 23-20 and overall and 2-7 in the BE. A sweep would be nice...

Opened up the weekend series with a nice 7-1 win over the Hoyas. Sean Mooney was excellent on the mound. 8 solid innings, only 3 hits surrendered. Two HRs by Anthony Brocato.

33-7, 7-3 BE

We got shellacked 13-5 this evening. Gave up 6 in the first and there was no coming back. Let's take 2 of 3 with a W tomorrow.

We won a wild one 9-8 in 11 innings. We were down 8-4 starting the 9th and scored 4 runs to tie it up. Hoyas had a bad inning, concocting a lovely cocktail of wild pitches, fielding errors, walks etc.

Credit our guys for not quitting and our pitching for keeping them off the board for the last four innings while we scored 6 unanswered.

34-8, 8-4 BE.

Creighton are 10-3. We might not catch them. Only X and Nova left to play in the BE. Both series at home.

Was hoping for a Regional #1 seed but my source said it's highly unlikely because of how weak the Big East is. 4 conference loses so far and the Ivy League losses hurt us a lot.

Big weekend series with X. Rain in the forecast for NYC for tomorrow so let's play two today, hey!

We won Game One 7-3. Anthony Brocato with 5 RBI (2 HRS) and Sean Mooney scattering 6 hits over 8.1 innings. He ran out of gas late but we had a commanding 7-0 lead at the time.

Game Two is at 430 EST. We won 4-3. Two in 6th, two in the 8th.

No game tomorrow. Hostilities will resume on Sunday.

We are now 36-8 and 10-4 in the BE.
