Simple Question…. If Anderson is retained, where does everyone stand?

I’m 25 years old and a St John’s fan, Mets fan, Jets fan, Knicks fan, and NY rangers fan.

Which means I have seen precisely 0 championships in my lifetime. (By the way, I don’t even expect a national championship from SJU. I’ve wanted to see them win the BET at MSG my entire life and would celebrate that like a real championship fwiw)

If I only stuck around when I believed in the direction of the team or the coach, I wouldn’t be following any of my teams anymore. They all would’ve beat it out of me at some point.

So no I’m not going anywhere. To quote the great Carmelo Anthony 84F2C897-15EE-428F-B9E4-3F35B78028EF.jpeg

SJU fan since the 63/64 season.
my wife and i each have a SJU degree. we met through SJU.
was a 27 year SJU season ticket holder until I moved to florida. 6 seats.
but the SJU games have been unwatchable. the season results meaningless.
the all access miced game cemented the anderson failure.
through vet tickets, the ticket prices for the FSU game were $8 for me. I did not go. unwatchable games.
find myself watching a lot less college basketball games this season.
I am someone that bought the college basketball package for many years.
since i have "bootleg" cable, I do not have dvr ability.
I bought concert tickets when SJU last played xavier, knowing I would miss the first 10 minutes of the game.
in the olden days days I would have had to confess that venial sin to a priest.
on monday all yankees will be in camp. go johnnies. go yankees.

At least you were alive when we last won the BET in 2000.

If he hires an Assistant to take the reins of the Xs and Os on the court then what is Anderson even there for? He's not like Steve Lavin where he's a recruiter first and basketball mind second. Anderson's entire coaching identity is based on his teams' style of play. Give somebody else the reins of the Xs and Os then what's the point of keeping him?
You are right...but it is a cheaper option and we can say we have continuity in the Head Coach position. Even though he might be the Joe Biden of Big East HCs.

It’s amazing the gamut of opinions here about the BB program and CMA. But , that’s typical of fans in most places . Even with this Season of disappointment and another Non Tournament appearance , there is a considerable support for Anderson to be continued . Why ? Some point to their acceptance of seeming propaganda that the School could not afford to pay CMA’s buyout and that it would cripple the University . I assume those folks haven’t looked at the Balance sheet of the University . The School is on firm financial footing despite the buyout . The bring back Anderson group are already looking at their projected line ups for next year . Which is unlikely to stand the test of reality . Thinking of all eligible players returning is very uncertain . We already had a mass exodus of players under Anderson in the past and given the body Language and disinterest the players are showing in the time outs , expect more escapees in March or April . And , no one is a guaranteed return , even Posh who might like a new Coach . We have seen a more than fair sampling of CMA’s Coaching over 4 years , will anything change next year ? Hardly . Except maybe to not do Mic’d up huddles , which are not Mike’s strong suit . This years team is not World Beaters and the experts had it figured as a likely 6 th place team , which is pretty accurate so far . But , CMA went on record that this was his best Group , it isn’t . If we retain Mike , expect a repeat of his prior 4 years and we will be lamenting Pitino at G ‘town , getting 3 standout transfers from the portal , 2 Stud top 100 recruits and winning 12 games in the BE next year and getting a NCAA bid , while we struggle with Mike for another 2 years or more . Ugh !

If you post here you are lifers. Already went through the Norm years and are still with them.

Just put a team that's watchable on the court. Character guys a must. Not guys who are characters.

We are never going to be a perennial powerhouse again so us oldies need to deal with that.

with your fantasy football winnings since joining our redmen.com fantasy football league you should be buying us a new arena

You know, I never knew what his screen name was. :ROFLMAO: I knew he wassn't Redmannorth but I didn't know who else was from Canada on the board. I'm such a dummy. PS KJ you do need to stop winning. I keep having to pay an extra $2 to send your prize out of the country every year. ;)

there is a considerable support for Anderson to be continued .

Please name one poster who supports bringing back Anderson.

The only posters that I am aware of that believe CMA may return next season is because the buyout may be a bigger issue then you believe.

If the buyout can be reconciled, then CMA will not be back.

Count me among those that have doubts that StJohn's will buy him out for the reported sum.

I won't stop watching, but I need to see Posh, Wusu, Soriano, Storr, Pinzon, Lendeborg, and Gardner in uniform next season to come close to canceling out negative feelings about possibly more of the same coaching.

The risk is there that you really hamstring the next coach with an empty roster if you retain CMA and we have another .500-ish season. I don't think we get many early commits next season.
I’d like to see Jones still here also. He has talent and he can score.

I have no inside info but doubt CMA will be let go b/c his losses and shortcomings might be hidden by these last few games and the W's he has or will remain to get. That may justify no action at this time.

Since my first year at St. John's in 1987, I've been fully behind Lou, Brian, Fran, Mike, Kevin, Norm, Steve, Mike D, Chris, and Mike A. Will continue to support Mike A, but would love a chance to support Rick P, who might be our only hope.

I'm 40 years into this crazy obsession and there's no sense in giving it up now -- although this may be the first season I've found our troubles bordering on laughable. I didn't make a donation to the Red-White Club this year (for a couple reasons not related to the coach) and will wait to see how this plays out before making a decision on next year.
I stopped R&W after Norm's first year when I saw he couldn't his way out of a wet paper bag.

That was the funniest thing ever posted. I forget if it was Norm or Mullin. Marillac posted that video. If someone still has that it would be hilarious to see again
