Seton Hall (UBS), Sun., Feb. 18, 5p, FS-1

Serious Q: how do you think those guys would do playing for Pitino, with Jenkins at the point vs Taylor and Ledlum playing for Holloway with Richmond at the point? Or Dingle and Luis playing for Holloway if you prefer at those spots, or any combination thereof.
A lot to ponder... not too sure how players would do on opposite teams... just watching SH and SJU both play... those were the only 3 guys i would want on our squad
Kadary over Jenkins (and i like Jenkins)
Dawes over Dingle
Dre over Ledlum

Collectively SH, certainly not a great team, imo is better than SJ at playing together, shooting, defending aggressively and finding guys in right spots on offense. Certainly Johnnies can win, but I think Holloway has gotten more out of his guys so far than Rick and has managed to get by with a limited bench.

Holloway certainly has gotten more out of two particular transfer players, Dawes and Davis, than we have gotten out of Dingle, Taylor, Alleyne and Ledlum.

However, the main reason Seton Hall has been playing better has to do with the star returning player Kadary Richmond who has figured prominently in their victories.
The two consecutive games he was out of the. Iineup the Pirates lost.

In contrast, Pitino tried to build the team around Soriano who proved during Big East play that he doesn't have what it takes to be a difference maker.

Never been to UBS but trying to grab tickets for the game, what section should I go for? Resale tickets seem pretty cheap

You have that flipped. Nobody feels confident because two guys play hero ball and go one on one. And those two guys hate each other ironically.

3-4 guys stand around watching. No good team does that.
Now your talking. The blame Jenkins for other players missed shots and mental state argument is my favorite. The player with the 3rd most assists in the league, while not being even top 15 in minutes, doesn't pass enough and has huwt his teammates dewicate feewings. Priceless. P.S. Nice touch adding future NBA lottery pick, your words, Luis to your blame game mix.

I have taken a break from the board for a few days. I went to see Iona play Manhattan tonight. It was a lot of fun to watch a basketball game and not have to feel the stress. Will be at the Seton Hall game and will take it from there. Go Johnnies!

Think I've been reading before each of the past 5 games that this is a "must" win. That was as premature as my ejaculations. But now we have arrived at the real "Must" win. No victory...no tournament...period.
Fully agree (outside a BET run) - Lose here... and my attention will only be on Paultz / SJU79 (potentially maher as he might now be an insider now) posts on the Transfer Portal Mania thread...

I mentioned this earlier in this thread and agree that this is definitely the beginning of the must wins.

No sense not going w Joel and hoping he snaps out of it while still also giving Zubi his own minutes. SH transfer big is ok, but if Joel can’t get better of him, don’t know what to say.

Limiting Kadary is more on my mind, unorthodox guy who fills up stat sheet and gives other guys confidence.

I watched a fair amount of that game on TV . My grandson graduated from Manhattan a few years ago . But , the Jaspers are woeful .
This isn’t the Pitino Iona team and they aren’t as good as they were with Rick but , still had too much for the guys in the green uniforms .

Some you old Baby Boomers like me , can remember when Manhattan , Fordham, NYU and St John’s would fill the Garden for a Doubleheader . Even on a weeknight . Of course , they started the first game like 5:30 and bsck then there were t all the Timeouts and Commercials . So the games played faster .

It was a great time for NYC BB . Sadly , those days are long gone .
