Seton Hall (UBS), Sun., Feb. 18, 5p, FS-1

He should’ve done it behind closed doors. That being said, we want to win this guy didn’t forget to coach overnight. I swear we got too many Mets and jets fans. He’s not Rick Kotite or Dallas Green/Art Howe. We got a soft fan base it cracks me up. I did see Lavin go from Pat Riley Showtime style to having to whore his wife out and look like shit bag low paying CPA from Mill Basin.

These kids make money now and Boeheim and the General have said worst. Also to hear Zach going on with no condiments Kay and Rosenturd who could care less about our program pisses me off. Zach did a great job. Always liked Sterling better. JS likes his pot where Fruits Kay pisses me off!

lol

I know it doesn’t change yours or anyone’s opinion but Danny is a good guy, really is, which is why his players love him, which is why he is a good recruiter. I guess because I know him and was also out of control at times when competing I look at things differently.
I still have ex-players remind me of when I got a technical down a point with less than 2 minutes in the game for hurling a white board marker onto the court floor towards a ref who just made a call against us; luckily, we won but far from my finest moment. Incredible I didn't get tossed but only got T’d up. I think the refs bought it when I told them I was only trying to bang it against the white board and it slipped out of my hand. In reality I saw red and had/have no idea what happened.
My players knew me so well none of them were really pissed during the game but really thought it was kind of funny in the huddle while the shots were taken.

Edit, to add, I don’t think I ever coached a player that couldn’t tell an “out of control” temper story about me.

Straight from a Jersey City Heights buddy, who knew him, and the rest of the Hurleys, Danny is alright, but has demons that he is still working through, not just being a hot head with a very short fuse. Goes back to his playing days and an inferiority complex he couldn't shake, on the play grounds of JC and beyond.

As a player at Seton Hall he was extremely disliked by a lot of people at the school.

Its clear- the issue has always been that impact players like Storr were invited back but did not come back. To let the dead weight players go were fine, however, he had limited time to get decent players except Brady and Simeon. Jenkins has been the stand-out from the others but other than him and Zuby the others have not adapted to Big East basketball. If Rick had a full recruiting cycle those others are not on the team. That's it and if he wants to call them out so be it. It was unexpected to be public about it but he is laying down the law as to program expectations. It may or may not hurt recruiting.

Pitino is a Hall of Famer- if that is not good enough for top 100 players that's their issue. Let them collect their NILs and learn nothing in the process- most of them will be in Europe anyway as a very small percentage will even sniff the NBA.

I do believe he is a good guy off the court.

His lack of commitment to change his behavior during games... I disagree with though. I don't care how competitive someone is, he needs to tone it down IMO. Threatening to beat up students after your first loss in weeks is just too much

No doubt about either IMO. Danny is extremely hard on himself, I heard either Terry Dehere or Jerry Walker tell a story from HS about Danny going like 9-10, ST. Anthony’s winning easy and Danny only talking after the game about the layup he had missed. In his own eyes, he was just never “good enough”. Pursuing perfection and berating yourself for not achieving it are two very different things.
As for not being liked at SH, that is where a lot of his issues overtly manifested themselves. I think getting away from Jersey would have been better for him, but just my opinion.
I think an unpublicized item that reveals a bit into Danny’s personality is the reluctance he had to be in the forefront of much of the UConn NC celebrating last year; my understanding is he felt the winning should have essentially ended “his job” and he had to be “nudged” to accept that just wasn’t the way it was.

Again, sorry but as I posted to passitback, sticks and stones, much ado about nothing, modern softness. And to you and he, my last comment.

The people who moan and groan about softness in younger generations sound equally soft being so worried about it.

its funny how expressing someone's behavior is inappropriate nowadays can just be deflected by saying "ah the worlds too soft these days"

I wonder what he'll have to do out there before even you tap out and can't defend it. Trust me its coming

No, it’s not coming, it’s already here, and if you can’t see and understand the difference between words and actions no one can help you. WORDS only have the power you are willing to give them. WORDS are NOT behavior, they are nothing but the posturing and dancing before actions and the VAST majority of time they go nowhere.
The world would be a much better place if it never went down the abyss where words matter, in many cases in modern society, way more so than actions, which are more often than not accepted and explained away and more sadly, JUSTIFIED and then RESPONSPONSBILITY for said actions deemed unnecessary by even more WORDS.

Completely disagree. Language/speaking connects human beings and the way people speak matters. It always has and always will
