@Seton Hall, Tue., Jan. 16, 8:30p, FS-1

Exactly. And they have no choice to play him because of the thin bench. Again, context matters and the whole season matters. If we had Seton Hall’s OOC results there would have been a riot before the first BE game. There is a reason their metrics are so poor. To Sha’s credit, he has done a great job “righting the ship” with this group in conference play. They essentially rely on 5 guys - the big kid off the bench who hurt us has done nothing to date - but those 5 guys have been very good as a unit in conference play. And Richmond, who always had big time talent, looks like the light bulb finally turned on. They’ve avoided injury to anyone in that starting 5 so far and been fortunate in that respect compared to other BE teams. All the credit to them and Sha for turning around their season, but the reason they have a massive hole to climb from is because the team that performed in the OOC is the one picked to finish 9th in the league. We will see if their good play and good fortune continues.

At some point the carriage will become a pumpkin and in this case the Cinderella story will end. They are at peak now, only down from here - can only catch those lucky breaks for so long. Also- we gave them the game, unforced turnovers and silly passes all over the place during the entire game. Lazy rebounding and wide open 3s. We beat ourselves really. I think we see a different result next month.

But, they keep winning. At some point, it's just one of those years. Oh BTW, they haven't played DePaul yet, either. That's almost certainly two more wins.

I look at Seton Hall, and I don't see a real weakness. I don't think they're great at any one thing, but I think they do a little bit of everything well.

I thought the SH luck was going to run out against us. Boy, was I wrong!

FriendofJohnnie is correct, they will hit their rough patch and come back down to earth, I just wish it had happened Tuesday night.

Time will tell.

Seton Hall has had a very good schedule so far playing all the top teams at home the first half of the schedule. They still have to UConn, Marquette, Creighton, Villanova and Us all on the road.

The Hall is ranked 17th in the CBS Power Rankings.

They are a well coached team that plays tough and deserve all the credit they deserve. Who knows if they have peaked, time will tell, nice to be a Hall fan today.
Defend their backcourt trio and they lose. We let Dawes, Wusu and Richmond run a muck. Alleyne and Wilcher were no match against them.
There was very little coaching or adjustments by Mas as he benched Luis and Soriano......something Pitino would not have done.
I expected a loss but by single digits.
Mas being unable to rally the troops made it a double digit disaster.

No adjustments can compensate when players choose to not come to play.
Obviously, we can disagree but IMO Luis and Soriano should have been benched, that goes in the plus coaching column as far as I am concerned. Soriano has been given a million excuses on this board for his very uninspired, lackadaisical play for better than a month now and he finally was held accountable.
As for Luis, he has a world of potential he does not seem to be interested in harvesting but he is certainly entitled to some benefit of the doubt due to the practice time he missed and probably continues to miss.
I may be way off base but I don’t think Pitino singing their praises before either really accomplished anything has helped either of them or the team.

Tuesday was awful, no two ways about it. But for me, I'm chalking it up as an anomaly. Frank and I try to keep things in perspective while being perplexed by the no show in Jersey by the Johnnies. We give props to Zuby Ejiofor while discussing if Rick Pitino being on the sideline on Tuesday would have changed the outcome. Here's episode 87 we recap the loss inside the torture chamber known as the Prudential Center

Also the only time we got close was when RJ got 2 fouls in the first. We went on a run to tie it up with him on the bench.

All and all we put up a stinker. It happens a couple times a year. Heck we’ve put up stinkers against N. Texas, BC and UM. The troubling aspect about this one was the low effort.

Hopefully, the couple days off will mean everyone had time to rest and get healthy.

N Texas actually was a good win on a neutral court definitely was not a “stinker”.

You can’t be serious with this nonsense. I’ve seen a lot of stupid things posted on this board lately. But this one takes the cake.
No, it was clearly a joke. Ray Allen is one of the best shooters of all time. Are you all there?

Wusu is a significantly better shooter from deep than Jenkins, though. That is objectively true both this year and over their respective careers.

So if Wusu shoots his team out of games, how would you describe what Jenkins does to us shooting 6% lower and with more attempts?

Maybe you should focus on where this team would be without all the Assists , Rebounds , Steals , Defense that Jenkins provides , in addition to being the leader on the Court .

He’s RP’s guy . Soriano is Captain in name only .

Interesting question posed by Gary Parrish of the Eye on College Basketball Podcast this morning when talking about the Seton Hall v St. John's game. He said the committee always makes note of a game outcome if a key player is missing. In this instance it was not only Jordan Dingle but Rick Pitino and he was pondering if the committee would make note that Pitino was absent for the game when looking at the body of work when the time comes potentially - essentially for both teams.

When Jim Boeheim got suspended for 9 games a few years back (I believe we beat them during that time), the committee chairman admitted on CBS that they ignored the team's, I believe, 4-5 record in that timeframe.

If you're going to do that for a coach who cheated, then you have to do that for a coach who misses time due to illness, IMO.

has anyone seen/read comments from Pitino on the game? have to think he had some strong observations....

True good points. All I know is we’re at crossroads. Heartbreaker L in Omaha & total no show in Newark. 2 straight. Marquette game will likely tell us if it’s same old SJ fading to wrong side of bubble or new SJ picking ourselves back up & looking refreshed.
This is ridiculous.

Sorry son but with all the nonsense u post. It’s hard to tell the difference.

Sure wish we had Posh, Storr and Wusu.
