@Seton Hall, Sun. Jan. 22, 12 Noon, FS1/570AM

Carrington oversleeps, misses team bus. Delgado gets called for three fouls in the first 5 mins and is a non-factor. Willard gets teed up and ejected. Mussini has a triple-double (just to tick off Fun) and we win by 25. And then I woke up...

Based on what I read on the Seton Hall forum, I think we'd be better off with Willard being on the sidelines.

Seton Hall fans hate Willard. Holloway would be their coach and the fans would be in over the moon.

Not being a Seton Hall fan and looking at it from an outsiders perspective, I would say Willard has done a pretty good job for them.

They won the BE Tournament just last year.

If Muhammed wants to know how coaches deal w/ adversity, he should be directed to Willard ' s blow up after Providence game where among other things he used words like an embarrassment and said players should find their own way home and take Amtrak for all he cared.

Mullin & Mitch need to close hard on all the top kids. Matt better have backups.

Long way to go.

Fwiw,

KenPom Prediction: 80-71 Seton Hall (79% chance of victory for Hall)

We will see how they do from here on in. But so far, this season is showing just how badly they depended on one player (Whitehead) to determine the fate of the team. With Carrington, Delgado, Rodriguez, et al now being juniors, I would have expected more than 8th place in Big East at this point.

Many SH fans see it in terms of having only one NCAA appearance in his first six years there, and with a current conference record of 2-4, even if they go 7-5 the rest of the way, it's very iffy they'd get an at-large NCAA bid this year, making it one appearance in seven years. As for last year's BE title, right or wrong, many of them see Whitehead and Delgado having had more to do with winning the BE title than Willard.

Sounds like a big game for the Hall tomorrow. Pressure is on them to keep the Johnnies down this year while they have Delgado and the experience. If our team lights it up from the outside will they get a little tight? The johnnies have had a couple of good outings on the road this year. They are capable of making it interesting.

I would like to see Mullin starting to show up at that these Jersey games with Mitch. Especially when Seton Hall rolling deep.

Hopefully Howie Kussoy covering for post tomorrow in order to get some fair coverage. Zach Braziller is all over Seton Hall possibly because I hear he is angling for a job on staff at some point.

Not sure where you heard that from, but nobody covers SJU hoops more than Zach.

He loves Seton Hall because he is close with all the NYC kids because he covered them in High School. Will never knock them.
He was comparing our loss to Villanova in the same category as Seton Hall last week. Our kids played with effort unlike Seton Hall. Very Biased.

Utter nonsense re angling for job,

Of course you would say that! That is where you get 100 percent of your information from!

They have a solid team, they are just missing that one guy who can go 1 on 1 and score. Powell may be that guy but he is young.
Will be a tough game.

Such a silly man, calling for Mullin's firing & now theorizing a writer, who covers both SJU & SH, is currying favors to change his occupation. Lol

Silly- half the fan base wanted him gone after the first 10 games for how poorly the team played. Your boy or best friend even wrote an article on it so it must not be silly.

Whatever you say Pal.

Is it just me or do other people get Bucknasty and Rawdog mixed up?

Get lost.

Carrington and Desi both have the ability to create buckets on their own. Both are averaging more than 16 points a game, I believe. And Angel is one of the two best scorers in the post in the Big East (and the best rebounder). Powell is more of a shooter at this point and has been ice cold in Big East play.

The Hall's biggest problem to date is that they often play 3 on 5 on offense. The PGs are known as defenders who have been major liabilities against better competition. And Sanogo, while an excellent defender, good rebounder and glue guy, isn't an offensive player. His buckets are off put backs and dishes from others, and he misses Isiah more than anybody.

They are down on Willard & the staff because he has not shown the ability to recruit well without hiring assistant coaches to land players. They have a good kid coming in next season, and Powell was a nice get, but the fan base is concerned that if they miss the tourney this year with a starting 5 of 4 juniors and 1 senior, the roster may look very differently next year if Delgado or any of the others go pro.
