Season Ticket Holders Changes 2025-26

1. Please explain how giving someone a better or worse seat based on the factors they listed is "a money grab"? Will it generate more $$ in new donations? I don't think so, at least not appreciably. Will the revenue come from increased ticket prices? If yes, then those increases are coming regardless of a reseating or not.

2. It's clear the big donors (I'm not one of them) are a primary reason we have a better team, a basketball facility being built, and a $3 million coach. Do those people in descending order deserve the best seats? I think so. If everyone was a non donor, we'd be a d2 team competing against cw post. Smaller and non donors really should be thankful that others are financing a winning program. Just think Seton Hall.

3. The CA seat reduction is real.

4. Ticket resellers owning a large # of season tix is real.

5. Great seats were available for non/low donors when the product was mediocre at best. Why does that mean we own those seats forever, even as others (like Repole and a bunch others) are financing a great team. Do you really think if Repole wanted 12 great seats, someone isn't getting bumped?
How many “big donors” do you think we have that are “financing the team?”. Five, ten, twenty? Believe me, those “big donors” already have the best seats. This has nothing to do with them.

I know this sucks for a lot of you guys, but for decades we've complained about us being a mom & pop operation. If we want to be among the elite, we need to deal with changes like this. Pitino probably won't live to 130, so we need to get this train rolling fast.
Then build a flippin' "elite" on-campus arena. The band-aid changes of the past few years don't cut it. CA (sorry, Looie) is a laughing-stock of the BE. SJU is building an "elite" practice facility...that's great. But what about a great fan experience?! Each year, can't wait for the string of MSG games to begin so I don't have to sit through a painful (literally and figuratively) game. The place was built in the 50s, and essentially hasn't changed since.

I’m as anti-CA as you can get on this board.

Where would you rank renovating CA in priority compared to NIL, basic facilities upgrade (not having a dedicated video room is wild), more games at MSG, and other team expenses (charter flights, more destination games, etc.)?

If we’re at a point where we can play 12 games at the Garden a year and five at Carnesseca, the arena stuff just may not be worth it.

Then just blow the place up, and play the Delaware, Quinnipiac, etc. games at Hofstra

Blowing the place up costs money and also displaces volleyball, women's basketball, and a venue for campus events. It's not realistic. We also saw how horrendous attendance was at UBS. Wouldn't it be worse at Hofstra, or Nassau?

The way I see it. CA is a dump and doesn't even provide much of a home court advantage. I literally know a half dozen people in my life who refuse to go to a CA game because of how uncomfortable it is. But I also just think its something that may have to happen ten years from now.

In the short-term (meaning, Rick's current contract), focus on our NIL infrastructure first and foremost (✅), then focus on upgrading our facilities so its at least up to a high major, competitive level (✅), focus on building a buzz with the program locally (which also requires money -- we're getting there), and focus on getting more games at MSG & at better times (I'm assuming this is a focus).

If we can play 1-2 OOC high majors at MSG each year, plus another quality mid-major, and all Big East games at the Garden, who's going to really care what CA is like?

renovating CA would have a horrible ROI in the NIL world we are in now

The shame of it is you cant even burn it down and hope for insurance money. It has so much cement and stone it's fireproof

While I appreciate good hyperbole, Hofstra does not have many options because they will not get 18k for a Saturday game at UBS against a conference opponent.

If the school was raising money before the NIL became a cancer to college athletics, then I could be persuaded to build a larger on campus arena. But even then, one could argue money is much better spent elsewhere.

Players rather have a high end practice facility with a lounge since that is where they will spend the bulk of their time. The size of the arena falls below that.

And as it has been mentioned, the school is finally embracing the big time. It is really planting a flag as “New York’s Team” and the Garden is going to have a larger presence because of it.

It has already taken effect. When was the last time we had 14k for a freezing cold evening on a Wednesday night against a team like Xavier, that does not have a huge alumni presence in the City?

Last thing I'll say about CA.

This was a great idea Penn State did last year. They played Illinois at their rec center last year, in front of students-only.

We probably need a few seasons to make this really possible, but I would love the idea of doing this once a year at Taffner. I trust Kull to have innovative ideas like this. This would really get student engagement going.

This would be Matt’s pitch to a recruit:

Matt: “Come check out our brand new state of the art on campus arena equipped with seat-backs for all 5,500 seats. Your family can come and have a great experience watching you play.”

Recruit: “Ok, fine. Now, how much are you offering in NIL?”

Matt: “Did I mention the seat-backs…?”

DK… the home court advantage is one of the Only things CA has going for it… that and beer sales now lol…

You may know 6 people that refuse to go to CA… but I know 5000+ that are will to suffer through it- and their angst makes them cheer harder lol

We don’t have many notable games there- but the KState / DePaul / Butler games had amazing “bandbox” energy

Sat next to a Butler fan at CA earlier this season (the whole row was empty, sans a few others). He mentioned that they have high school gyms in Indiana bigger and more comfortable than CA, lol.

Initially I was a bit upset about the email. Not so sure I am at this point.

Re: "Reseating"

1. It's clearly a ploy to generate more money. All it means are tickets will cost more and some loyal fans are gonna get the boot.

2. The seatbacks merely are a band aid on a bullet wound, because the seats are still going to be uncomfortable (suck).

3. There will STILL be DISCOUNTED tickets available to CA (at a discounted price) for practically any game you want to attend.

4. The MSG package, and secondary tickets to CA, may actually result in it being CHEAPER to attend all the games.
