Rysheed

Rysheed has the same problem Dom does, to be a guard in the NBA you need to shoot.
There is very little room for guys who don't. Moe could find himself in Europe for the same reason.

That said, I think Rysheed has some unique court vision. It's not fully developed, but he makes dishes to the big men inside that could really impress NBA gms.

Granted I don't think he's a great shooter at this point, but he's come a long way since last year. Up to. 35% from 3 which is respectable compared to 28% last year

I agree. Rysheed is improving his shot. I think as that goes, so goes his draft stock.
But in his case, I do think returning to school would be a good move.

Oh I totally agree. There's no way he should leave this year

Since a dismal 1-7 in the second Butler game Rysheed has shot 47% from 3. That's a big part of the resurgence, not just his improvement but Phil's over 50% for the same period.

*frustrated*

You just don't let some opinions die regardless of how much evidence there is to the contrary. Moe shot 38.3% from three last year on 154 attempts. Stop saying he can't shoot! He is 21! If his NBA career rested on his ability to shoot from three, he'll have a very, very good and long career.

Rysheed can shoot a little and is still growing into his game. Dom can't shoot...that is true. Three very different players.

Rysheed will be held back back by his off court issues and the fact that he is not a pure (or close to it) PG at this "point" of his career. Dom will be held back by his overall lack of skill, but could still find a niche due to his athletic ability and defensive versatility.

Moe is shooting 14% from 3 this season, and I'm sure his 2pt jumpers aren't much better. I still love him, but that's why he doesn't play!

You need a better shot than either Rysheed or Dom are displaying in order to stick in the league long term at their positions. I don't understand why you would argue that.

He has only taken 34 this season! What is more reliable sample size...the 154 he took last year (shooting 38.3%) with good minutes or the 5-34 he has taken this year with the fear he will be yanked with any missed shot. He shot 27.4% on 112 attempts as a 19 year old rookie two years ago.

Moe can shoot. He's got a pretty shot.

Rysheed will grow into his shot..he'll never be a pure shooter, but he can be a guy that consistently shoots 35-38% with time.

As some mentioned, Rysheed has improved his outside shot a lot from last season. Going from 28% to 35% is a pretty big jump for one year. Do that same percentage jump and he's an elite shooter. Obviously that is much tougher to do but he's only 3 percentage points away from DLo and 5 away from PGIV.

And I think that increase is because he's taking more 3 pointers in rhythm and less off the dribble. Taking better shots is just as important as improving your shot.

It was pretty clear for the first half of the season that Rysheed was forcing up a lot of poor shots. He's pretty much stopped doing that completely and is playing in the flow of the game. What a great transition.

@JonRothstein: Rysheed Jordan is a more polished PG version of Tyshawn Taylor. 23 points including 5 made 3's in St. John's win at Marquette. #SJUBB

Been meaning to ask this. What's up with his neck? Why is he always twitching his head back. Nervous tick? Anybody else notice?

It's a tick I go to school with a kid who does it in class all the time and can't help it

His demeanor on the court was great today. Smiling. Playing hard. Stepping into open jump shots. Even helping opposing players up off the court after they had hit the floor. Very good to see.

Helping up opposing players also caught my attention. Nice to see. (Plus, he flat-out played grreat.)

and straight up demanding the ball from D'Lo, clapping assertively--could so see him as a real leader with one more year if he's doing that with seniors now, such is growing confidence--yep, the smiles, playing hard...just looks COMFORTABLE out there...was really in the zone tonight for sure. and it seems like the mainstream notice is starting to come his way more and more.

If it's a tic let's hope he doesn't read this thread. He'll get self-conscious and do it more.

Boxers do it all the time, looks like he is just cracking his neck. Man you guys watch games much differently than I do. It is a basketball game not the zapruder film. Waiting for a thread detailing which player adjusts his junk the most.

I would guess that would be CO. Gotta be uncomfortable with those short shorts

@NYPost_Brazille: Talked to NBA scout on Rysheed Jordan. Was very high on sophomore. "He has all the tools." #sjubb. Scout did say he was a bit of a "tease."

@NYPost_Brazille: NBA scout predicted Rysheed Jordan would be a second round pick if he comes out Hopes he stays in school could be 1st rounder next yr #sjubb

Rather the 2nd quote play out. :)

Just shows how good he's been that this talk is starting on a sample of what, 6-8 weeks of consistent play? That said, I do hope he sticks a year for so many reasons. I think if he could go a full year as a leader of a team and avoid the off-the-court drama, I think NBA teams would be more inclined to make him a first rounder--as important as any element of his on-court game. And of course, we could really use him with so many seniors leaving. He is growing on the court too in taking more control. I love when he calls for that pass when he feels the open 3, practically demands the ball. As good as he has been, I wonder just how good he can become...

In a rough game, I thought he was excellent today. One of his better games.
