Rysheed Jordan - Stay or Go?

I've been a big critic of Sheed but towards the end of the year he came to play and was bringing it.

If he can just ignore his buddies and focus on himself on the court in Queens he can be POY and a 1st round pick easy.

Some of you guys don't fully understand the kind of college player Chris Mullin was, and why we wax so poetically about his skills. Yea, the guy could shoot, and yea he could pass brilliantly, and yea he had court smarts. But on the court he was near perfection to watch. Every possession was purposeful, every decision a good one. He brought it every single minute he was on the court. I've often compared it to one of the narratives in the movie "A River Runs through it" about witnessing perfection.

"At that moment, I knew surely and clearly, that I was witnessing perfection"

If Mullin can impart just 80% of this to Jordan, he's an NBA 1st rounder.

Jordan has a sloppy game. He floats short rainbow lead passes that defenders easily pick off. He decides to go to the hoop when he is at the key, instead of reacting to what develops. HE launches shots on his first touch upon entering a game. Vastly talented, in need of refinement, and a coach who will call him out on bad decisions and mental lapses. The best thing you can say about Jordan at this point is that he can score in short bursts of bunches, but largely is absent for large stretches. Mullin can help him with that, and if you don't see that, then you really don't understand basketball.

I think BEAST's feelings towards Mullin has reached this stage:

Champ Kind: We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much! I miss being with you. I miss being *near* you. I miss your laugh!

[laugh's playfully and pulls on Ron's sleeve]

Champ Kind: I miss your scent.

[Composes himself, becomes serious]

Champ Kind: I miss your musk... When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together!

Brian Fantana: Take it easy, Champ. Why don't you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while.

I'd guess you grew up in an era where slam dunks and highlight reels enamored you to basketball. Mullin grew up following the 1968-1973 Knicks, where the theme "Find the open man" was the rule.

Cmon Ron stop being so weird.

Over the last 10 games or so, RySheed clearly showed he's a special talent. His shot got significantly better, he was finding open teammates, and his effort on defense was excellent. IMO, he did enough that he might be a 2nd round pick in the draft.

The question is, will that be enough for him? In fairness to JaKarr, he left school knowing that he most likely was not going to be drafted. But he was willing to take that risk. Play in the D-league or end up in Europe. Turns out he worked hard enough to actually make an NBA roster, which is a real credit to him. Does RySheed want to follow that route? That's a personal choice. I, for one, hope he sticks around one more season. Because I truly do believe that playing one season under Mullin will improve his overall game in a big way. And if he takes that next step forward, he's a 1st round pick next year getting a guaranteed contract.

Here is a simple question. Is Rysheed Jordan going to school? Easter Break ends today. The last day to drop classes or apply for Pass or Fail grades is wednesday, he should be getting back to class this week. Is he? I think that will pretty answer all these questions. He's either in class or he not. If he's not, he's likely gone. Can anyone answer this question?????

I'd like to know too but I think nearly everyone here doesn't go to SJU anymore. I'm sure some people on Twitter know though.

I don't think he is listed on any mock drafts, and he is not going to sit out a year to transfer. He will be back.

IMO,with his home life and family issues all screwed up he most probably would be granted a waiver to transfer to a Philly school and not sit out a year, if he so desired

Sheed has shown his love for SJU a few times recently on Twitter and Instagram. He hasn't shown any signs of transferring so I don't even think that's in question, waiver or not. It's a matter of playing professionally or staying at SJU one more year. Also almost all of his recent posts have been St. John's related which can be taken as a sign of him returning.

I thought NCAA just stopped waivers with rule change.

They did. He'd have to sit out a year. I don't think that's an option. It's either go pro or come back. Feeling more and more like he's coming back.

Until he is practicing on Oct. 15th, I will have my doubts with him. We need to get a point guard in next month as protection.

you think he's sitting a year lol. i thought NCAA tightened up hardship waivers now. Chances are he is going to sit a year and that won't happen.

The hardship option is out the window
I can't imagine him sitting out a year to transfer to any other school
Realistically, his choices are to:

A. Come back and improve his draft stock for next year
B. Enter the draft and probably end up in the D League
C. Play in Europe

Based upon his play at the end of the year, I would suggest that A is his best option
Having Mullin as his new coach should be a compelling reason to want to return
However, when it comes to these matters, logic goes out the window
Who knows what he will do? We'll find out soon enough.

If anyone knows if either are NBA players now or in the future, it's Mullin. They should sit with him, listen to him, and if her thinks they are ready, go. The likelihood is that he believes they have a lot of work to do, and they should do it here. Not for our sake, but their own.

I think Mullin & Sheed & CO have already conferred - with Chris moving at full speed, it would be hard to imagine they've had no contact as of yet!
Agree?

he's developing into an NBA player. you can tell his jumper was becoming consistent the 2nd half of the season. He could make a great living right now playing abroad but I for our benefit I'd like to see him lead the team into the Mullin-era one more year
