Sima had 13 pts, 9 Reb, 6 Blocks 3 Ast. Nice all around game but most impressive was that he played hard and only picked up 3 fouls in 39 MINUTES. And he wasn't taking plays off. For a freshman to play that many minutes and stay out of foul trouble shows really great discipline and defensive instincts. We've got ourselves a player there.

Random thought/strange anomaly: I don't recall a single travel call made against either team---and there were plenty. I don't recall ever seeing that before. I will have to watch on DVR to confirm.

They called a palming violation on Rutgers in the first half, not sure if that counts
 
I have been saying this what seems forever!BALIMOU NEEDS TO GET A LOT MORE MINUTES! He reminds me a bit of Willie Glass! Can this kid leap! He is the best athlete on the team!

I was saying the same thing to my buddy who attended the game with me: I don't' ever remember hearing CA that loud. It was absolutely awesome.
 
Wasn't pretty, but kids scrapped, hung in there & got the W. Must say the environment was great. Monte stopped over when we were down ten & turned the whole game around. You are welcomed anytime Monte!! :)

They called one on us too in the second half. I believe it was on Felix.

Actually, I was wrong. They called a travel on Mvoika. He went up on a layup, had nothing, dropped the ball and touched it again. He was called for the travel and tried to tell the ref that the ball had been touched by Rutgers. Other than that, I don't remember a conventional travel call.

Sima is better now than Obekpa would have been this season. Very impressed with him

Even if Sima doesn't register a single point, rebound, or block the rest of the season he's still better than Obekpa because he's not a selfish dick. Obekpa played on Long Island so for that reason alone I wish him luck in his future endeavors, but I couldn't be more pleased that he's far in the rear-view mirror.
 
Just got back from the game
I lost my voice - as exciting a game as I have seen at CA - great fan support
We were very lethargic in the first half - not stopping the ball on D, etc
We played with much more energy in the last 10 minutes
I am very impressed with Sima - Felix and Mvouika also played very well
A few observations:
1. Jones should not be taking the ball out of bounds against pressure
2. We need to develop more guys capable of handling the ball besides Mussini
3. Felix and Jones should not be allowed to shoot beyond 5 feet from the hoop
4. Felix should not have been allowed to touch the ball when we were freezing it at the end - two missed free throws almost cost us the game
Fwiw, I was on the Rutgers boards - they blame the loss on poor FT shooting and the refs
They also said that the announcers were clearly biased in favor of St John's

WOW, first of Felix made up for his missed FT's by committing a foul and not getting called for it.

Next, I don't know why the announcers were killing Jones for going for the lay up. There was a guy right behind him he was going to get fouled anyway for for the lay.

That being said 3-0 baby!

Not really. If he pulls it out and looks for some open space he's going to burn some of that 6.5 seconds and also still get fouled and shoot two. Then Rutgers only has say 3 seconds and its a much different situation.

They're literally chasing him down the court. There is no where to go but the baseline, why wouldnt you go to the rim? Much better chance to get the two points that way than to risk it at the line, plus the is the possibility of an and 1 to seal it.

Not one mention of him leading the way in scoring during the second half?

He got the ball just over half court and there were plenty of other spots to go as well as passing it to someone else who they weren't chasing to kill more time. I'd have to look at it again which I have no plans to do but I think the smart thing there was kill every second you can. Doesn't take much to burn a few extra seconds. Anyway we won. So its all good.
