You know what would work wonders for the pain? A big fat doob.

Heading into the Villanova game there was broad support for the notion that this was an all-time favorite team, a team to root for, good kids, etc. Two dog games, and those look like nothing compared to this. It only took a day to get over Obekpa, and hope we could win without him. Tip of the iceberg stuff. Where's there's smoke..

have you heard or smelled anything else from the players ?

Loool.. Not really... Just got this message... He's getting treatment a few times a day... He said he's gonna leave it all out on the floor Friday night though.. He's a good kid

cool. feel free to post any encouraging info this week. Even if it's a lie

Funniest thread I've read in a while. One after the other. Don't know whether to laugh or cry ... Or laugh so hard I cry.

Humor is going to be the only thing that keeps us from going insane with next years roster/team, so this thread is great practice for next season :)

In case you missed it, CO singing "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music...

Blocking those big shots and throwing my elbows
Lighting up fat ones and missing some free throws
Rocking the short shorts and giving goofy grins
These are a few of my favorite things

Just think it is only Monday. Who knows what can happen by Friday. Has a team ever had to forfeit an NCAA tourney game. I think we should put the 6 remaining guys in a bubble until Friday.

Open tryouts tomorrow? Best available fill the spots on the flight? If you can fill a 2XL warm up suit, you can dress?

Good lord, it's hard to be a St. John's fan some days...

I remember Guinness said he was 6'7". Someone PM him and tell him to get down to campus ASAP.

Between all of the Jordan BS, suspensions, black eyes, refusing to go in games, Lavin's crazy quotes, you could not do an April Fools thread for the program. Anything and everything in play for this program. Seriously what thread would be unbelievable at this point? Obekpa abducted by aliens? Greene kidnapped by longtime JJ poster? Jordan retires to play baseball? Harrison gets Tyson face Tattoo? Pointer changes name to a symbol? ADR eats Jamal Branch?
Nothing would shock me

Terrific post !!!!
Now that is my type of humor!

Except his humor was funny.

But why would that have prevented him from being on the bench Friday against PC?

I will take a shot:

From what i am told the three suspensions are not marijuana related, but for a different infraction.

This is just another example of the inmates running the asylum at SJU and why the coach needs to go.

Winning is great. I am happy the seniors are finally playing in the NCAAs. But the culture of the program stinks from the head down. I believe at SJU we can win and we can do it the right way with kids who will represent the school in a positive way and not embarrass us.

This is why i havent gotten on Lavin for not landing Briscoe - he is a major talent but we would have sold our soul to get him - and the way he made "the announcement" into such an event, can you only imagine what he would try to pull here? No player is bigger than the program and we dont need that here. We can win but more importantly we can win the right way.

The Lavin Era has destroyed the clean program Norm restored here. We can get on Norm for being a horrinle coach but at least he had dignity and he brought dignity back to SJU.

Lavin has recruited criminals, kids who were academic question marks who he still relied on to be major contributors to the program, there have been numerous suspensions (two years ago there was one that costed us an NCAA birth), the team has underachieved and we are looking at a major rebuild starting next week once we are bounced from the NCAAs because the recruiting has been less than stellar.

And this is why i have called for Lavins head all year.....he takes ZERO accountability as the program descends further and further down the toilet.

For the sake of the seniors i hope they beat SDSU and play Duke tough, but playing as a 9 seed in the NCAAs with two Top 10 recruiting classes is all smoke and mirrors when you look at the big picture of the embarrassments and underachieving seasons the program has experienced and is headed for....which is why this Coach and his very, very overpaid staff must be fired.

No one wants St Johns to succeed more than I do. I have been following SJU my whole life, i love St JOhns and i love our basketball program, i love the tradition, i love going to MSG, CA and road games to see the team BUT we need to get back on the right track. There are good coaches out there available who will come to SJU and who will work hard to restore the glory that we all deserve to see, but we need to get them here ASAP.

Like many of us, I set the bar for success this year at making the Big Dance. However in light of our last two blow-out losses, and the recent CO et al infractions, if we do not show up on Friday and end the season with a third straight embarrassing loss ( needless to say I'll be rooting like hell against that) I will no longer consider the season a success.

Do you want a clean program, or do you want a winning program? Not sure you can have both anymore....

Agreed. I don't think anyone can reasonably expect that there will not be issues from time to time, but far less issues (behavioral, academic, etc) and more success on the court is a fair expectation.

Bingo, Monte. Everyone understands what's involved with running a major program. It's not a walk in the park. But that does not excuse the consistency with which it has been happening here, which is not at all the norm. Whether it's a player mysteriously not starting, a suspension, whatever, it's like if we go 3 weeks without some sort of adverse news around here we are waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's not easy, but it isn't this complicated either.
