Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Peyton Siva chimes in lol

I don't think we are THAT bad from outside. Scott's shot selection has been horrific until recently. When he's squared up or he gets swing passes where he doesn't have to move his hips and shoulders, he's like 50%. He just needs to cut down on the catching out of position and shooting wildness.

Wilcher is a 40% shooter that is just going through a stretch. I won't budge from that. He is very capable for an 8-12 streak that would get him right to 34% on the year.

The Baby Greek Freak is getting some looks at the end of halves and that could progress into 2 for 1 offensive sets. He's a lethal shooter. Glover is a good shooter too, but will need to get his sea legs back against some of these lesser opponents. It's rarely a straight line improvement from freshmen. He's had a rough two week after looking very promising.

We’re worse, actually. By not to small of a margin either.

It’s mid February. We’ve played 26 games with 9 of those being against sub 100 teams. How much longer are we going to have to wait before we actually realize this shooting potential you think we have?

I don't think we are a good shooting team. I don't think we are 29% bad though. That is truly horrific.

Our short bench and style of play has to hurt. The confidence of many of these guys is shot, but they are slowly realizing they can win games with tons of misses. I think that will help. Wilcher has been getting good looks, taking good shots, and barely missing.

With Scott, you can tell almost to a 90% certainty what shot will go in an what won't based on angle of the pass he receives. When he has to open up his hips it's over for him. Those long levers that help him on defense make it very tough on offense.

I agree with Pitino. I'm not really concerned about our three point shooting anymore. Even though our last five games are only 29% from there, the volume is much higher. It only needs to be serviceable. The @Creighton/Butler/@Xavier games were scary-bad, but I don't think that's going to happen again. Even the @UConn game where we didn't shoot well from 3 (18%), we still hit four threes. In those three games, we had five total...

Many moons ago I sat a few rows behind Providence bench at CA. Mark Jackson got benefit of a foul call to which Rick responded to ref ; “He’s not in the f’n NBA yet, give me a f’n break. His go to “adjective” to this day.
We played Providence one year, and they tried a box and one on Mullin. The guy guarding him IIRC was Keith Lomax. He got called for committing a foul on Chris and the next time he was on offense (with Chris guarding him) he felt he was fouled as the ball went out of bounds. He turns to the referee and goes “Do you have to be an All-American to get a call around here?” which got a long stare down from the referee.

Despite how his coaching tenure went here, it would be great if St John's could welcome Mullin back to the school again and have him visible in some capacity.

Based off of his recent interview it shows he has been following along all season including knowing Kadary being out of shape in the beginning of the season.

We're a full calendar year removed from the "unenjoyable experience" presser. I imagine the 29-5 record, with some additional lateral quickness, since then is much more enjoyable ;)

I was actually just thinking about this moment yesterday. Amazing how much has changed. It really felt like he might walk away.
