Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

wow, wonder how much?
My take of Rick's tweet was James Dolan owns MSG, Rick loves MSG, so this was on the day the Garden was absolutely SOLD OUT, during Rick's tenure, it was a thank you for making the Garden home court to St. John's.

Just my take, I don't know that Dolan even likes St. John's, much less support us financially.

Rick is a master at networking. He has visions to bring this program to great heights and I think part of that is doing a bit of ego stroking

Maybe Dolan has had nothing to do with SJU so far, but I bet Rick thinks complimenting him and getting him on our side could pave the way for more MSG games every season

Every move Rick makes is so calculated (post game pressers excluded :))

Dolan is an ego guy. Maybe publicly thanking him is CRP's way of boosting Dolan's ego to get some more support.

Dolan own’s MSG. We are moving the Seton Hall game to MSG. I have no idea if Dolan financially supports St. John’s (I doubt it). In a week where MSG is dark for three days (no events) for three days in a row after Sunday’s Johnnie’s day sellout, it is a thank you and a point of what the program could draw when planning the schedule next year.

And most words out of his mouth or tweets are strategic w a few “Huhs” in the mix. He is a reporter’s dream.

The biggest problem was Ernie Lorch and Riverstde exerting pressure on the program. Other AAU coaches felt that their players would not get a fair shot. Some of you should remember Reggie Jessie from Riverside initially starting over Lavar Postell from the Panthers. Then there was James Scott having to take a back seat to Felipe and the situation with Roshown McLeod. A lot of AAU coaches did not feel comfortable sending players to St, John's.

On another note, once Ron Rutledge retired, our recruiting took a step back.
That's fair and you are far closer to this than me but as an outsider it seems like without Riverside we might have had been even less successful as they provided us with a number of great players.

Like certain other billionaires (and politicians), Dolan loves getting his ego stroked. Rick is elite at gamesmanship.
