Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

You seem like you're wound just a little too tight and I guess I'm a little more laid back. But I appreciate the suggestion - I'll take it under consideration.
It's a joke bro. I actually root for BE teams all the time. And I do like to see Cuse do well, just not against us.

FWIW I had third row seats on the floor at the Dome and was there when Felipe scored 30 or so as a frosh.

You all wanted Pitino. Now that he is doing the proper thing and revamping the team you cry about losing guys you are emotionally attached to. These players you are emotionally attached to are the same players you constantly complained about all winter The alternative is you could had CMA return and you could spend all next winter complaining about losing. Now you have best of both worlds. You can watch SJU win with a great coach. And you can use your 1000 channel tv package and watch all the players you are emotionally attached to play for their new schools
If i ever have to see posh or stanley dribble a basketball again ill lose my mind. Good riddance.

Seriously. Every time I’ve checked this thread the last couple of days I see a few posts where people are mentioning a couple specific players they’d like to see stay in a sort of non-forceful but “it would be nice if…” kind of tone and then much more intense posts about how people need to “trust Pitino!” that frame the discourse as if people are demanding that the majority of the roster needs to stay (I literally don’t recall having seen one person say that) It seems like everyone really trusts Pitino, is grateful to have him and some posters have one or a couple players they’d like to see hang around. Why is that an issue?
Well, if anything proves we're a 'family' Board, these posts do. We'll argue about anything even when we agree a new winning era has arrived (finally!), following a 23-year drought. Lol.

Its probably been mentioned before, but with Van staying on, Rick not only knows what went on on the court, but he also knows what went on in practice and off the court. Meaning, he knows which kids were more coachable, and which kids weren't. He knows which kids were a good influence in the locker room, and which kids weren't. Bottom line, Rick knows way way more about these kids then we do. We only know what we see on the court. Again, I would love for Posh, Wusu and others to stay, but I'll trust whatever Rick and the staff decide is the right thing to do.

Good stuff from Roger Rubin at Newsday. Pitino has already spoken to the players he wants to keep. Storr, Soriano and Traore plus one more? Hope Gardner makes the cut.
Would assume he is referring to the incumbents

Someone said it must have been a tough job for Van. But maybe it was easy. As you say, we assume it wasn't a disaster in the locker room but seems to be like it was way worse than we might have thought

i don't want to badmouth any of the kids, but there were plenty of times this past season that we questioned whether or not kids were listening to CMA, and why some had such bad body language. Say what you want about CMA, but if a kid isn't going to listen to him, and/or is gonna sulk when he doesn't get what he wants, then he's capable of doing that with any coach. None of these kids are make or break players, Rick does not need to deal with any kid who isn't going to buy in 100%.

Arguing that a couple guys have more value than some of you think does not = crying or wanting CMA back

Give me a break man.

Everyone has pretty much universally agreed we trust Rick to make the roster choices.

Doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with making an argument that posh Alexander can help a winning basketball team.

You’re all about to welcome transfers from mid major conferences with open arms, and I’ll be there with ya, but then conversely can’t understand why anyone would take the stance that a player who’s had success in the big East could be valuable if they stuck around????

Some of you need to open yourselves up to the idea that people can watch the same basketball games as you but come away with different opinions/takeaways on players.

You can watch a basketball game where Posh has multiple turnovers and misses all his jumpers and decide he’s trash. Someone else can watch the same game and see an incredible defensive effort from posh and multiple tough finishes around the rim and find him more valuable than you do.

That’s fine! That’s ok! Everyone’s gonna be fine

Jack I get what you're saying, but Posh was a very mixed bag this season. In a lot of ways. Let's not compare him to, say, Soriano, who was all in and left it all on the court every single game. If he's all in with whatever Rick wants, then fine. Welcome back. If he's not, thanks for everything and good luck in the future.
