Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Rick will have zero interest in Indiana, IMO. He's back home in New York, back home in the Big East, MSG, and is working for the one person who he admitted tempted him for 24 hours to leave Louisville (for Providence) in 2008 after schools like UCLA and Arizona immediately struck out when pursuing him. Leaving for Indiana would put him right back in a football-first conference; something that always annoyed him at Louisville due to constant league shakeups (Louisville played in four different conferences in 9 years between 2005-2014). Not to mention he'd also be right next to the state of Kentucky.... A place that houses tons of conflicting emotions for him. Despite Indiana's history as a storied program, I don't see one part of that situation that would be more enticing to Rick compared to what he has now.
I say this with I think non bias. Despite tonights loss if we win Sunday and end up at minimum in BET finals heading into the NCAA's I honestly don't think there will be a bigger national basketball story than St Johns heading into the tourney

Obviously you can flame out first game but I just don't think we will unless injuries

The reason I was so confident last week against Uconn is Pitino is a better coach. Hurley is great and gets talent but Rick going back to Iona has almost beat him with much lesser talent. Rick was going to get him Friday and he is going to get him again at MSG. No doubt in my mind on that too

Tonight was just one of those game that shit happens. Creighton makes me more nervous than Uconn but we are going to get them Sunday.

I remember what Jimmy Boeheim said about Coach Carnesecca and Rick echoed. Jimmy always said his favorite coach to go against was Looie because win or lose he never whined, never complained about a call and never made excuses.
Except that Pitino has been whining incessantly about the clock issue in the Baylor game since November. I’m so thrilled we have him as coach, but I take every word he says with a grain of salt.

"He never made an excuse, never said anything but ‘great game,’’’ former Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. “Never blamed anybody. In many ways, he was the best to compete against. It was never any of that bulls—. I have tremendous respect for him, probably the most I have for any coach that I’ve coached against.’’

Incessantly? When is the last time he mentioned it?

And his main complaint was Drew asking officuals to take a look at Zuby for a flagrant to delay and ice him.

That was less about a call and more about poor gamesmanship.

But again incessant?

Believe it was Marquette. Regardless, my point is Rick’s narratives change depending on his mood. One day last year’s season was his most frustrating ever bc the team had no lateral quickness, now he says they were a top ten team at year’s end.

Coach has mentioned losing 6 a couple times. Smith, KR, and Scott will time out. I guess the other 3 would be RJ, Zuby and who?

I think we have to enjoy this while it lasts too. I don’t know if success next year is a given and I am not sure CP next year is a given.

The HS recruiting seems dormant; I hope we get a few more years with coach but I am treating each one like a gift.

He said recently Zuby and Ayo will be right by his side.

There were rumblings about Dunlap transferring. And if you are Wilcher and not a guaranteed starter getting big minutes, do you leave?

Prey is a one-year loaner. Hopefully something can be done to make that two years at least.

Liotopoulous talked value of getting an eduction, but we never seem to keep our Euros. I look around the country and see Euro kids at other schools, but are they retaining them for four years?

He's a coach who engages in coach speak and BS occasionally. But honestly rarely if ever does he blame refs after games. Also refused to whine about SJU not making Tourney last year and in fact said SHU had a stronger case than SJU.
