He's pretty much turned his back on the college game, IMO.Stevens came out in the press last night saying he's not a candidate for the IU job. Not that that means anything, though.
If we had Clayton at the two this year, can’t see us losing more then one freak game to date.Rick always goes full out with compliments for his former players , staff , etc .
Watching Auburn Vs Florida and Clayton jr going off in the 1 st half must have been a reasonably happy event for Rick .
I just keep wondering , as I’m sure he does , if we had Jenkins and Clayton last season and Clayton again this year .
The Lad can play and shoot .
A long time in prison? It’s a good thing you can still sit.I feel like I've just served an eternity in basketball prison and Rick Pitino just opened the jail cell and let me out.
I've been in prison so long I don't know what to do.
if we don't add a team like Dayton... and consider them to be "below" Big East caliber... the only teams that make sense, are in the ACC.
Duke/ND/Wake/BC/Cuse... (Dayton and St.Louis have been been better than BC recently right?)... if we can't add ACC schools... we dont have much other options
Similar to the StJohns situation when a bogus search committee chose Brian Mahoney over other more qualified coaches as a tribute to Looie. Red was better served as an assistant coach.Syracuse lost to Miami tonight. They’ve become such an irrelevant loser program. Send them to the NEC or something.

No one did squat to acquiesce to Looie. They conducted a national search, made Frank Layden of the Jazz (a Brooklyn guy and Niagara grad) head of selection committee. They reached out to a bunch of renowned coaches. Nobody of note applied and no one they contacted wanted the job. Nearly all said the same thing: "Why not hire Brian Mahoney?" The school resisted at first since they initially believed this was the best job in the country and no one was off limits. Finally warmed to the idea.Similar to the StJohns situation when a bogus search committee chose Brian Mahoney over other more qualified coaches as a tribute to Looie. Pretty sure Artest was top 10 maybe around 9?No one did squat to acquiesce to Looie. Mahoney did win BE coach of the year in year 2, and also reeled in the #1 and #5 hs players, which we had none before or since.

Fran landed Ron Ron.Pretty sure Artest was top 10 maybe around 9?

Sorry I misread, Artest was drafted 16Pretty sure Artest was top 10 maybe around 9?
I think he and Billy Donovan have no intention of going back to the college ranks unlike Pitino, Calapari and Hoiberg.Stevens came out in the press last night saying he's not a candidate for the IU job. Not that that means anything, though.
Oh really, so the best the search committee could come up with was Brian Mahoney whose head coaching record prior to that at Manhattan wasNo one did squat to acquiesce to Looie. Without Rutledge Ron Ron would have landed at Miami.Fran landed Ron Ron.
Remember him being ranked pretty high too though by end of senior year.Sorry I misread, Artest was drafted 16
This is somewhat how I remember.Without Rutledge Ron Ron would have landed at Miami.
Didn’t something similar happen with Isaiah Briscoe and Lavin but it was actually Lavin’s idea for him to wait on announcing which gave Calipari more time to win that raceThis is somewhat I remember.
Mike Quick who had a weekly High School sports show on MSG Network at the time, asked Artest to announce on the show, his college choice of SJU or Miami.
Prior to this, Artest had apparently told Fran he was coming, earlier that week. Quick’s show aired on a Friday. delaying the announcement an extra day or two, which would allow Miami a window to continue recruiting him, and possibly change his mind.
Fraschilla was a paranoid mess, and was irate with Quick. It was turning off Artest and his family a bit, and also annoyed Quick, who was popular among the HS community.
Rutledge had to swoop in and smooth things over with Artets and his family. It obviously worked and sealed it.
