Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

If Richard Pitino hiring means Rick is working behind the scenes on maintaining our NIL, I just think its a no brainer. Unless another -- quite literally -- Hall of Fame or top 10 coach in the sport is interested.
Would prefer Richard to Mas, but I still think there's got to be someone better.

I just want to do a full search. That gives you a better idea of how hot the job would be, in the coaching community.

Even if Richard has less than sustained success at New Mexico similar to his Minnesota experience? Yes, so far he is doing well at New Mexico, but I think he needs to sustain that to merit consideration for a BE HC spot.

I know there's teams with big NIL payrolls that have been totally busts, so its not everything. I agree that the head coach's x's and o's ability matters more now than ever before. I also don't think Richard's resume matches what it should be. But I'm afraid of losing the infrastructure we have in place to maintain our level of recruiting.

Thankfully, I think Rick is having a great time and I think this is a super premature conversation. Also very much trust Shanley and Kull to involve all the proper stakeholders in making the best decision.

Maybe a silly question, but how do we know Richard would even be interested in this job? Sure it's a step up from New Mexico. But Richard doesn't appear to have ties to this area like his dad. For all we know he has other ambitions.

In the middle of our best start in 25 years, with a first place Big East finish an achievable goal, why are we even talking about this?

After what we’ve been through as fans, we deserve a season like this. Let’s embrace it and enjoy every single game!
Because Rick is not going to be here long term (4 years after this max, since that's his contract length), and if you're not thinking ahead, then you're falling behind.

You sound paranoid. Is there any reason to doubt Father Shanley and think he's not thinking ahead?
Father Shanley's not a young man, either, and even the best of the best make mistakes.

I consider myself justifiably paranoid, if you want to label it some way.😁

I hate coaches (any coach) having handpicked successors. The replacement could work out, but usually doesn't.

I also want this on the record now, so that it doesn't sound like a second-guess later on, if it happens.

What record? Congressional? Let’s relax here lol

Rick may have a certain number of total wins in mind. he's about 50 from 800 plus he has near 200 from NBA. Maybe his target is combined 1,000 to 1,100??

Right now he is the clear leader in for the Lazarus award (for raising the dead). 🙃 🙃

I think he should go for 1k in college
