Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

No it’s not lol. Nice false equivalency and attempt to hide just like you did in the other thread.

You ducked me in the other thread, hiding because “politics” were referenced.

When really all I did was break your argument by showcasing that there is always a line that can be crossed, yes even in the heat of competition.

That line is different for everybody. I personally felt Rick was wrong in the way he spoke the other day. I felt it was wrong for Hurley to speak and act the way he often does. Can I understand why coaches are often emotional and stressed out? Sure!

But words still matter buddy, I’ll let our coach, who correctly apologized for his comments instead of posting a stupid meme, say it best:

Much ado about nothing. Or at least Rick's friends successfully making it seem like it's much ado about nothing.

We had guys coming out of the woodwork or registering on the site to tell us it was going to kill the program's recruiting, and the story's already dead.
Actually I heard it both on PTI and on college sports radio a new term in the sports world lexicon-going Pitino on someone or a team, Pitinoing and Pitinoizing. Also heard the subject discussed on multiple platforms and places so it was a good idea for Pitino to apologize. I’m not worried about any damage to the program though as people have short memories and still don’t think it is that big of a deal.

FWIW, It hasn't been discussed much on here, but I thought when Rick spoke about the Seton Hall postgame controversy, after the GTown game, his speech was nothing short of fantastic.

He took accountability, clarified his intent, corrected his previous statement by saying he recruited the team and that they are "his kids". He even candidly talked about how some of his players were hurt by it. And how he went into work and spoke to them individually until everyone was back on the same page.

It was very well done, and what I like to see from a guy who's going to be leading this program going forward.

Of course though, a man showing growth and leadership is seldom mentioned on social media or by CBB talking heads. While his original comments go viral. That's just the nature of he internet these days unfortunately.

Pretty clear he knew he'd made a mistake and did his best to clean it up. As far as I'm concerned it's done and time to move on.

Timing of this is pretty bizarre. This was not very newsworthy before the additional NIL money, now it is just funny.
If local decision makers really want to play power games that have less meaning now that over-the-table payments exist, so be it. Our money will still be green in other hoops hotbeds. Plus recruiting is going to be 75-25 portal anyway unless there's a banner crop.

Outside of Massaroni and Buck, how many NY coaches are even worthy of getting their asses kissed? None of these guys complaining now sent their kids to us when we were down. Then if we were on the way up they still wanted to take a wait-and-see approach. I don't want to make a blanket statement or overgeneralize, but most of these guys have seemingly never done shit for us.

If Jersey coaches are annoyed, I'm more apt to want to smooth things over with them. As far as high school is concerned, I think New Jersey is the real future of the program, not NY.
