Rick’s Targets

After skipping a bunch of the posts over the last few pages because well, I am not ready to hit the ignore button but I had to scroll back to the top of this one to see what thread I was on.

So right now for Ricks Targets not counting the ones we have signed, we have Dunlap visiting this weekend, Thomasson next week and Demary is still in play and Ryan and Ledlum picking other programs this week.

Any other updates on players we are targeting?
Thomasson - visiting next week.
Dunlap - visiting this week.
Demary - no visit announced yet
Glenn Taylor Jr - visiting next week
RaeQuon Battle - contacted today
Mystery European - Been recruiting him since 2005 so I think we have a good chance

Donovan Mitchell - #25 in his class, 4 star (247)
Jamal Mashburn - - #88 in his class, 4 star (Hoopscoop, is Clark still around?)
Ron Mercer - McDonald's all american
Antoine Walker - McDonald's all american

WASJU's OP was a joke for sure. Was yours?
Had forgotten mash was ranked so relatively low. That was a farce tho for anyone w/ chsaa knowledge. He simply willed Hayes to wins against the class a powers all of whom had inbound division 1 superstars.

For all of those guys who keep saying we are only getting mid majors or Iona leftovers. I ask if last years Anderson team played Iona in a play in game last year, who do u think would win? I know SJ didn’t sniff the tournament but chose a play in game because it makes the game meaningful. Lose and go home. I think Iona easily wins.
The same Iona that lost eight games mostly to mid majors? We were 11-0 against the same soft competition that everyone complained about.

I officially submit. Angry old guys( one last tangent, just because you have watched bad basketball for 100 years does not make you more of an expert than so called experts who make lists) on this board finally beat me down.

I would have like to keep 2 or 3 kids that actually played last year, especially Storr. I also do believe and last I checked this is the United States and I am allowed to have an opinion, that Pitino either overestimated how well he could recruit here, didn’t realize how hard it would be to recruit here or both.

With that all out of the way I am sure Pitino did recruit kids he likes, that can shoot and who can play his system. Which ironically is what I was pushing for for years. Just thought being Pitino could get a higher level of kid.

But again always been a Pitino fan and obviously a ST John’s fan so, what’s done is done. I would like them to get the Battle kid just because he seems like a fun watch. But whatever, We Are ST John’s!

Yet I recall a certain fan base screaming from the tops of buildings whenever a shooter from said lesser conference teams tears us a new one.
Exactly. Shooters can shoot, period. Getting them free to get a shot is the key. STJ has a stagnant offense that did the weave. RP will have not only the ball moving all the time but the players as well. Setting screens and creating pick and rolls. Two completely different offenses. So these kids may have been from mid major conferences but they cans shoot.

So u think last years SJ team would have beat them in a one game play in game? I certainly dont think so. When anything was on the line, Andersons team lost. SJ beat shitty teams when they were meaningless. As soon as games had importance we flat out sucked.

I want Battle too..

Still lots of good players on the board. If he can pull in a combination like Demary and Dunlap along with an impact transfer like Thomassen I’ll be just about ready for next season. Maybe a big or two that can contribute but wouldn’t need them to be world beaters.
I think we would have beaten them, BUT if you put Soriano on Iona different story.

You must have also invested lots of money in Budgerigars and parrots.😁

Last visit for Noah before his SJ visit and commitment here I
sense

one of the only players this past season that I had to google during a game because I was so impressed by the way he played against us. Will be a very solid pick up if it happens

This will also be nice because I am still salty we didn't get Antoine Mason to commit here and he went to Auburn instead. Absolute bucket who transferred from Niagara as well
