Rick’s Targets

Trust Pitino fully, but on paper we’ve landed three Iona players and a VMI player to go along with the UCONN kid. Not the most inspiring.
Might not be inspiring but it will be interesting to see how Rick molds the team; also a number of them are one and done as 5th year players to not discourage 2024 recruits.

I had a feeling we’d turn into Iona south, I thought at least we get their top players 😞. I guess we will see if George Mason north vs Iona South in some knock down drag outs next year.

Per Zach Fr twitter
College coach on Quinn Slazinski: “He’s legit. Good shooter, not a great defender, but a solid defender. He’ll keep the defense honest. He can stretch the floor. He’s got good size, he can shoot the ball.” #sjubb

I thought we were all sort of under the impression this was a done deal already. Not Quinn’s fault the fans were buzzing about bigger news.

I said it when he first mentioned coming - if he’s bottom 5 of roster it makes sense, If he’s top 6 I’d wonder about it.

I get the budding angst and share some of it, but what I keep falling back on is that this is Rick Pitino, not Norm Roberts, late Steve Lavin, nor Chris Mullin---it's Pitino and this will not be the BUT of his career.
IF Thomasson commits. that'd make 4 MAAC players, 1 Southern Conference player, and 1 High Major guy, leaving 4 ships left.
At this point I'm relying on a couple notions--that could be 100% wrong--that #1 these guys are not mid-major players, Rick believes they would work in the BEC as key rotation players (Jenkins, Slazinski, Thomasson) with Alleyne, the others (Conway, Davis) depth, and #3, that he believes he has a good shot at 2 - 3 impact guys (Silas D, Mackenzie M, + ?), plus maybe Grady Dunlap.
I'm a tad nervous, but I think it'll be fun and, to paraphrase Quinn: Buckle Up...for the excitement.
