Rick’s Targets

So what does our new squad do over the next
three months or so.
Summer school , organized non-pro leagues,
workouts with CRP ???
Does CRP and crew continue to gain rapport
(nice word) with his prospective recruits, ?
Or is it a kind of time out/family time ???

Here's the recruiting calendar:

I'm guessing staff has a couple weeks of vacation and relaxing. May 30, team gets on campus. Full on sprint between work outs and recruiting evaluation + maybe on-campus visits until July dead period

I am kind of hoping to see if RP does a media availability. I assume once the players are officially “committed“ he can comment on them. Maybe Dave or Amase can score the big man on one of the podcasts. Probably a tough get but the “fan” momentum is something we haven’t seen in a long time. I leave it to RP he’s a great salesman.

Brandon Tierney has supported the Program. Maybe he can do a spot. 🤔

247 finally updated team rankings. St. John's is #4 in the country. Obviously, this won't matter come October and there's still some big fishes out there. But this puts into context how successful of an offseason this has been.

Yeah let’s all enjoy the ride you can not blame anybody for being skeptical with our track record, we have become so used to futility that people doubted if even a HOF coach like Pitino could turn this mess around. I think those questions have been answered look at the talent he acquired in a short time to build a competitive team for next year. Now just imagine the talent he will get moving forward when he has more time to build relationships. We are approaching our first success in like 23 years let’s all buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Wow! Creighton next in Big East at 19.

Plus it has us with 9 transfers and we have 10

Good. Was a bit worried about this mid major Pitino guy at first, but he looks like a keeper.

The way I see it, we should have been number 1.

I assume that the rankings are based on a combo of volume and value. For example you will note that Creighton's transfers have a higher average rating than STJ but they only have 3. That's not really important, nor the fact that no other team in the top 50 had more than 7 incoming transfers. Obviously STJ needed to fill the roster more than anyone. PS I assume the missing transfer, Conway, would not impact average rating much but could bring up the total points, not that I have any idea how they came about that figure..

Just being curious , do the Grad Transfers select their own Majors , Courses , etc ?

Are they actually pursuing a degree or is it just a facade ? Can they take any Grad course , even if they don’t have the prerequisite undergrad ? And , do they need to take a required number of Credits ?

I doubt any are enrolling for Pharmacy , Physicians Assistants , Law School ?

Although Coburn , a smart kid , did actually pursue the PA program . He’s probably close to finishing ? Anybody know ?

I mean we are suppose to be a University after all . Aren’t we ?

Dingle , a Penn grad might be pursuing some Masters program .

We had pictures of Coburn on this site from earlier this school year from his White Coat Ceremony which means he was going into the clinical portion and final stages of his program. He should be finishing it up and graduating.

Great for him . My Granddaughter is starting the PA program at St John’s in Sept .

It’s tough to get in , only 100 out 2000 Applicants are admitted and then , it’s a grueling Program .

The Health Sciences , Pharmacy ,PA programs are going to be a big focus for the University in the future . Which will increase the overall Standing of the School in Academic Rankings as only top tier Students will be admitted to these difficult programs .

I think for the most part we can agree the 6 best players s/b:
Dingle, Soriano, Jenkins, Luis, Taylor and Alleyne.
Slazinski, Zuby, Davis, Dunlap and or Conway would not have started on any of the last 3 teams.
I’m just speculating since I have not seen Slazinski play but , transferring from L’ville when they were good to Iona under RP makes me think Slazinski can play . He knows Ricks system and that might give him a edge early in the season for a Starting Role .

I wouldn’t just dismiss him, if at all . Rick had no problem with making him the 3 rd player he choose to enroll here . Clayton opted for elsewhere .

Good luck to your granddaughter.

Was she the one who helped you with paragraphs? If so, on behalf of the entire red.fans family, I would like to say “thank you” to your granddaughter.

Did you mean to quote me? Unsure but whether you did nor not I find your points irrelevant in their connection to minor league basketball.

Congrats! I graduated from that program 24 years ago and it’s been great.
