Rick’s Targets

What can I say?
From today’s NY Post article:
In the span of 55 days, St. John’s added 11 players, a group heavy with shooters that most experts believe will be a projected NCAA Tournament team.

So I ponder is it sound or is it unrealistic to expect one or more of these occurrences:
1.a 20 W season
2.a BE Tourney W
3.An NCAA invite
4.An NCAA W
5.An All American candidate
6.A POY candidate
7.BE first team player(s)
8.Ongoing fun and excitement
9.Coach of the Year candidate - go HCRP!

I'm with you brother!
Everything you listed is a real possibility.
It would be truly a fairytale ending to Rick Pitino's career!

I never get too far ahead of myself and my baseline is making BE semis, a Dance bid and one win. No sense fast forwarding beyond that, but Pitino is far more driven than any HC we have had here in a while and a better rebuilding architect than even legendary Art Vandelay
Great thing is if we get to the dance, anything can happen! Just got a punch our ticket

Crickets from two posters with screen names of former players. Not shocking.
No crickets from me — I’ve expressed my excitement.

Posts like yours are so infuriating. On the one hand you pretend to be upset by “negative posters” and then when they don’t post anything negative, you antagonize them. I guess you feed off the “negativity.”

Why can’t you just enjoy the moment?

Let’s enjoy it. 30 years of miserable basketball coming to an end

(btw I always liked - like the NYU Violets and the Stanford tree - the red rose as our mascot - also is the NYS flower)

imho
Rick Pitino, the imperfect but brilliant basketball coach, is obsessed with excellence and with winning more than ever. Especially with the hometown team and MSG - the Emperor and his Empire.
He will otherwise be tormented with anything less than being a top 20 NCAA team! His internal motivation to heal the deep wounds and embarrassment = our best ally.
He is arguably the GOAT and a driven GOAT at that. A wounded warrior. His anguish, his destiny = our fortune.
And all likely agree…
Beware the red Giant has stirred.
Scary what may well transpire.
Blessings

I think for the most part we can agree the 6 best players s/b:
Dingle, Soriano, Jenkins, Luis, Taylor and Alleyne.
Slazinski, Zuby, Davis, Dunlap and or Conway would not have started on any of the last 3 teams.
I guess we have to wait to see them on the court. i think Slazinski
could have taken the 4 & Conway the 3 the way we underperformed

I haven’t seen enough of either.
But we are rewriting history with Jones. He was basically last years Dingle. Everyone was happy we got him and thought he would be our best player.

For this year I think they mostly go with Luis and Taylor with Slazinski backing them up.
Not sure Conway gets run. Just my opinion but think Conway and Dunlap will be fighting for whatever 10th man mins there are. I like when Frosh get to play so hope Dunlap comes out on top.

Yeah let’s all enjoy the ride you can not blame anybody for being skeptical with our track record, we have become so used to futility that people doubted if even a HOF coach like Pitino could turn this mess around. I think those questions have been answered look at the talent he acquired in a short time to build a competitive team for next year. Now just imagine the talent he will get moving forward when he has more time to build relationships. We are approaching our first success in like 23 years let’s all buckle up and enjoy the ride!
