Rick’s Targets

He's also not a center.
No, but he is capable of helping out there. More so than the other 2 who stayed.

I don’t want to start this again with guys out the door. My only thought was Stanley would be much better contributor than Keita or Traore but probably not as much of a contributor as he wants to be or will be. He also seemed like the epitome of a good teammate.

Right, but my point is that Stanley doesn't fit Pitino's plans at all so it's not even worth arguing about. Keita is an upside, good culture guy who's probably fine with limited playing time -- we need guys like that on the roster.

Pitino wants to stretch the floor next to Soriano, and in general, have shooters at every position. Stanley showed some promise at the end of the year, but hardly enough to convince anyone he's a shooter.

Once we get a starting power forward, Slazinski will be our backup PF. Soriano will be playing 30+ minutes per game. No way Stanley comes back to play 5-10 minutes per game as a depth piece.

I don't think our backup center has to be 6'11 or bigger. It would be great if they were. I would be fine with a long wingspan guy who is 6'8 or 6'9. Unless Soriano gets into foul trouble they won't play a ton.

I also don’t dismiss Louisville as many do in this recruitment based on a bad season. They do have resources. Happy to be wrong on this one, but I share what I hear from reliable folks, but have had my share of whiffs as well.
I do not ever once remember you saying that we are most likely not getting a kid, and he winds up here. With that in mind, I'll continue to believe that the basketball Gods owe us and that maybe, just maybe, this is the one time that you're wrong 😉

Drissa and Keita have played so little that they are basically Freshman. You need a more experienced player to be a solid backup for Soriano. They don't have to be great but a smart basketball player with some Athleticism. If you have that I think you could be 6'8.
Or maybe do what other teams do and let guys play 35 minutes

On 247 for example they have numerical ratings for kids on their latest to enter page but it doesn't automatically drop them into the appropriate place in their overall rankings, also rating based. For example Nelson would be right at the top in the 3-6 range, Dingle would be top 13 or so if their ratings stayed the same and their systems were automatic, at least as far I can understand it after looking it over.

And to idraft's point you do need to take it all with a grain of salt and try and dig too deep. That's why I generally rely on those that do consensus lists or those with folks who've been doing this a long time like Evan Daniels and Jerry Meyer at 247.
Go look at football ratings. A five star kid might be .95 and a three star .90. with 100 players between them. you cannot tell me that's a material difference.
