Not a bad guy for a back up big man.
I liked the post because it is true and I will post again, IMO, if one thinks it was Pitino only and alone who blew the roster up, they would be wrong. Like it or not, there were very definite reasons for the exodus after CMA’s 2nd season and it was not NIL. And the culture around the program did not improve one bit in the two years after that. Why is everybody liking this post? I
Kind of a circular argument, but ok
I amI liked the post because it is true and I will post again, IMO, if one thinks it was Pitino only and alone who blew the roster up, they would be wrong. Like it or not, there were very definite reasons for the exodus after CMA’s 2nd season and it was not NIL. And the culture around the program did not improve one bit in the two years after that.
The chaos on the court, the ridiculously poor body language on the court and lack of basic respect by players during huddles, etc., the Moore and Curbelo absolute nonsense, were just manifestations of that culture.
And the people who thought Pitino was going to just step in and in a month instantly reverse a program that had been essentially a dumpster fire since Louie left were just kidding themselves.
What coach since Louie distinguished themselves even remotely, in terms of building a sustainable program? What coach since Louie left the program in better shape than when they took it over? Exactly one, Fran Fraschilla, who couldn’t wait to leave his “dream job“ and left tripping over his pants around his ankles after the Mahoney handoff from Louie was a dismal failure. Jarvis had success for a couple of years with the players left from FF and then started what seemed to become a tradition of lazy, uneven recruiting and just piss poor management. Roberts, nice guy, good assistant, horrible head coach. People want to rave about Lavin’s first year recruiting, a group that was much better on paper than anything they achieved on the court. Mullin, a complete disaster, CMA, the same.
Thirty years of ineptitude was not going to be instantly transformed by a great coach, yes, but one who had been essentially “out of the game” for a fair number of years. Did people think that Repole money or Wall Street money backed up in Brinks trucks was just there waiting for him upon hiring? That players who would have been in their mid-teens at best when Louisville let him go were waiting with bated breath for his return?
This fan base may be as aged as some joke about but with all due respect to long suffering die-hards (I am one), IMO, the Gen Z people have nothing on many in said fan base in expecting and demanding instant gratification. Pitino’s team is nothing but players on paper until November and the only way to judge them is when they play games. Like it or not, the only way. Me? I’ll wait the few months and a year or two after that to judge; not because I like it one bit, but because, unfortunately, that’s the way it works.
Once I was 7 years old…I am
Repeating myself Logen, some of your posts are “ top shelf “ (the best), and I am grateful for them.
One notion I am not in harmony with is when you write “the only way to judge this team is when they play in November…I’ll wait a few months and a year or two…not because I like it one bit…it’s the way it works…”
At 74 I don’t feel anything as to age, I don’t focus on age and e.g. don’t feel
“ old “ though I expect younger posters cannot understand that…they lack experience…
Some here have suffered decades, and so what? I’m in no rush.
It’s only college basketball and as I previously posted - I’m damn well going to enjoy this 2023-24 season no matter the record. OF COURSE ( as with
West Point generals ) I would like Ws
( General Douglas MacArthur said there is no substitute for victory )
and the Final Four but I’m willing to wait…and trust…BECAUSE Coach Pitino only knows how to mold a team that is in shape, has a good attitude, and lays it out on the floor!!!
Join me in enjoying this season and all the fun effort we will see under the GOAT. I guarantee it will be a successful beginning viewed that way.
Can’t wait.
Hello Joel and teammates! Go Redmen, Go! Many of us have your back.

Are there still any rules? Sure doesn't seem that way.Three schools in three years. Not sure how the transfer rules will apply to him.
Was there an issue with my post boo?Why is everybody liking this post? I
Kind of a circular argument, but ok
No issue. You say you have inside info that our core players engaged in some kind of nefarious conduct that warranted their being kicked off the team and I’ll take you at your word. You just haven’t provided any details or evidence and yet a bunch of people liked your post that was short on facts and heavy on innuendo. Was there an issue with my post boo?
This to me is the biggest "red flag". This is Rick Pitino we are talking about. He wants to have a good group out-the-gate. If he thought there weren't major issues with a few of our better players besides Soriano, he would have no doubt done everything he could to keep them.
You could probably throw in the World Telegram the Sun...a merger of three papers...The Long Island Daily Press which I could get in Queens, and the Wall Street Journal. The Amsterdam News and the Village Voice were popular weeklies. When I grew up - and others here - circa 1950s -

What does hitting "like" on a post have to do with knowing anything more than the OP or anyone else? I know very little about what goes on behind the scenes with recruiting, but when Paultz posts something and I see it I hit "like". Doesn't always mean that I actually like the post(sometimes it's not even good news for us), it's just a way of acknowledging and saying "thanks". Now,'if I completely disagree with a post I won't hit "like". In both Logen and Eric's cases, I trust both of them and the info they provided aligns with what I've felt over the past few seasons. So I hit "like".No issue. You say you have inside info that our core players engaged in some kind of nefarious conduct that warranted their being kicked off the team and I’ll take you at your word. The best “evidence” guys like Logen can come up with is that the players didn’t seem engaged in the huddle, we played disorganized ball under Anderson, we have a “losing culture” and there were a few bad apples over the years. Hardly a reason to jettison the whole team.
As for creating a winning culture, we received a commitment from a kid from VMI, one of the worst programs in D-1 basketball. We’re reaching out to an NC St. kid who played at four schools in four years. Is that kid really more of a “winner” than Stanley? And our top target right now played at Niagara, hardly a powerhouse.
The idea that bc a kid was recruited by Anderson he’s bad for the culture seems pretty weak.
Now Eric, maybe you know something more, but I promise you that most of the dozen or so posters who liked your post know nothing more than what Logen wrote and some vague innuendo they read on the internet. I think that’s weak sauce.

No, that is not my best “evidence”, I clearly said they were manifestations of the bigger problem. Disagree with me all you want, that is 100% legit, but please don’t twist what I write. I am not here to run other people/players down, and I certainly don’t care if you choose not to believe what I share, as I said, 100% legit. But I will decide what I share or not that show people in a bad light. No issue. If it's innuendo to suggest there was any issues with the past players it is also innuendo to suggest Pitino ran them off. I still have not seen one credible account about any individual meeting Pitino had with the players, only reports that he met with each one. The only other facts on the ground is that they put themselves in the portal seeking a better deal (financial, academic, playing time, location, or whatever does it for them) just like 1,500 other players. The idea that Pitino ran everyone off seems to be attributed to his comment that six to eight new players would be needed. It's not hard to get to those numbers.
Nyiwe and Mathis, (no future eligibility) - 2
Pinzon and Curbelo (seriously, this can't be an issue for anyone) - 2
The three freshman (fairly standard and they have never played a game at SJU) -3
That's seven right there. And Pitino said SIX to eight. If Gardner had stayed and the others above are taken out that's six. The coach changed and the players who came to SJU to play for a different coach decided to transfer. One of the main arguments for granting free transfer to players was always that a player comes to play for a coach not a school.
Guys you liked watching play are leaving. Sucks, I know, but that's the system now. This is not a Pitino thing, it's a college basketball thing. And it's not new, especially at SJU.
If anyone has any information that a guy like Stanley was asked to leave post it. I have seen nothing of the sort anywhere.
