We wouldn't have Sampson if Gathers was still committed.

 

I think a primary reason he left outside of what most think of, is that we didn't have a center and he would get stuck playing it here.

Buzz Williams because he coached 1 year at UNO before joining Crean's staff at Marquette. Tony Bennett of Virginia who just left Washington St for Virginia and got them in the NCAA's for the 1st time and has a nice class coming in who's wife is from Baton Rouge.

LSU is a football school with loads of money though. Would they want to try to go BIG and make the program compete. Personally I would never go as a coach there because you will ALWAYS be second fiddle to pigskin.

SMU has tons of oil money. LSU is a football school that cannot keep its top basketball talent from leaving the state. Not to mention the team they would be inheriting is not that great.

A solid low mid-major coach with interest in taking over is probably the play here.

I agree about SMU. I think they will be a good addition to BE as well as Houston. Both big metro areas with good backing.

As for LSU I agree mid major is way to go, but I can't help but wonder why an aggressive AD doesnt try to boost their bball program. Football and Baseball are top notch, why not try for the trifecta.

LSU is still the school of Bob Pettit, Pistol Pete, Shaq, Chris Jackson, Big Baby etc. They've also been to two FFs since STJ's last. They ought to be able to attract bigger names.
