Revamped Big East

Can someone please tell me what SMU, Houston, Air Force, etc are doing in THE BIG EAST!!!??? Seriously? Bring in some East coast teams. It seems that the BE is falling apart at the seams, and the commish is grabbing at straws to keep it together. They should go back to being what they started as, a basketball first school. There is so much talent in the bball schools, that we can survive. The football schools are, for the most part, non entities on the national stage. SU, WVU and PITT leave the BE, so what. Dont let the door hit you...

Who cares? Saving the football league can potentially save the bball league. I'm for anything that keeps us in a viable and marketable bball conference. If it takes 18 teams, then I'm all good with at. I want to continue to watch SJU competing in a league that can be sold to recruits as a top notch bball league.

Houston would be cool just because that would be a fun road trip. UCF I could care less about and SMU would be fun just because Austor would go nuts if they ever became good.

I'd love Memphis because that would be an even better road trip.

So basically I'd be fine with any incoming team that would have a fun road trip

If there was a redmen.com UNLV road trip I'm pretty sure half the guys here would get arrested and need the lawyers here to bail them out ( that's assuming Lawman,Mkras and the other lawyers didn't get arrested also )

If BYU comes Marinatto needs to bring in Memphis and Temple anyway. I BYU doesn't come then he needs to convince Army to come in and bring in Memphis and Temple for all sports. That will make 14 football teams and 18 basketball teams. The basketball league will still be better than the ACC in my opinion with Memphis and Temple. The football league would be better than it was and from what I understand FED EX is willing to pump money into the Memphis football program if they get into a BCS conference. FED EX has their hub down there. My sister lives in Memphis.

To me, Memphis is a sleeping giant. They have massive money backing. They are already top 10 nationally in hoops attendance. If they were to get all sports bid to big east, you can be sure Mr. fed ex would be pumping I big dollars. They have to dollars and are a good football staff and recruiting classes away from a good program. The reason they stink is that their conference stinks. Better marketing and conference equals better recruits etc. If the big east is forward thinking, both Memphis and Temple make tons of sense for both football and bball. I'm really hoping those two are in the cards.

UCF is a rising program in FB and BB . Got some good recruits last year includind 4 star center Chandler. You can take a road trip to Orlando ,catch a SJ game and see Disneyworld. UCF will also improve by being in the BE. What is the latest status of Boise state?

Doherty back coaching in the Big East. Interesting. Former coach of the year.

The rest of the BE should be thanking their lucky stars they get to coach against Doh.

Not so fast. When you lose two top ten programs and they go to a rival league that has perennial top ten Duke and NC how can you think you are still better. This was a basketball move by the ACC and they had willing participants in Cuse and Pitt. The only thing you can hope for is both programs go down as did BC because of joining the southern league. Boeheim's retirement and a drop in recruiting for Pitt now competing in a southern conference is the Big East's hope.
Memphis, Temple and whomever do not replace Pitt and Cuse, or WV.

Actually, it would fun to have Fun with you on the road trips! LOL!

BTW, I have found a copy of the brief filed by Fun in response to the West Virginia lawsuit against the Big East. He is doing this pro bono so I excuse his brevity:

WV FU!

Memphis is going to be a top 10 program this year,Temple has been consistantly ranked in the top 25 and Fran Dunphy is one of the best coaches in America. Memphis has won just as many games over the last 10 years as either Syracuse or Pitt and they won consisitantly with Calipari and now Josh Patsner has them ranked in the Pre-season top 15. Having Memphis and Temple is not as much of a drop off as you might think plus in the Big East it would be easier for them to recruit because they would be playing in a better conference.

Memphis has won 280 games over the last ten years and Temple has averaged 24 wins per year over the last 4 years. I know they played in weaker conferences but they would be able to recruit better in the Big East and they would be excellent replacements for Syracuse and Pitt. The league doesn't lose much if anything at all.

BOISE, Idaho -- The Idaho State Board of Education has given Boise State permission to pursue membership with the Big East Conference, a move that would mean more revenue and give the Broncos a clear path to the Bowl Championship Series.

The board voted 7-1 Thursday to give university president Bob Kustra the authority to move Boise State's football program out of the Mountain West Conference and into the Big East for the 2013 season.

Big East files countersuit against West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- The Big East has filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against West Virginia, four days after the university sued the conference in a bid to make a quick exit for the Big 12.

The conference said the lawsuit was filed Friday in Rhode Island Superior Court seeking unspecified damages along with an order requiring West Virginia to stay put for 27 months in compliance with Big East bylaws.

A spokesman for West Virginia didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

West Virginia accepted an invitation from the Big 12 last week and wants to join for the 2012 season. The university filed a lawsuit Monday in Monongalia County Circuit Court. It seeks to declare the Big East bylaws invalid.

I love it. WVU's law program must be booming trying to declare big east bylaws invalid.
