Repole on the radio

In an effort to feed his own ego Repole just threw the baby out with the bath water. You are telling me there is no other way for Repole to air his frustrations with the administration besides the radio? Who is better off because of that interview? What coach, or player would ever come here? When does Ackerman step in? I can't believe that just happened.
You and I have no idea what steps Repole took to air his frustrations with this administration before he decided this was his only option. For all we know, he may have been rebuffed by both Bobby G and Oliva numerous times. Something like this isn’t done until all other options have been tried and failed.
It also feels a little bit like retaliation/revenge, which I’m totally fine with. I’m sure that Repole is pissed as hell that he’s donated millions of dollars to the school and the basketball program, only to be treated dismissively by Oliva, Bobby and the board. One thing is for sure, this was very well thought out by Repole.

Yeah, that will really get us out of this, follow up on a completely honest but PR disaster of an interview about the school administration with a completely worse PR hire. Kind of like a POTUS getting people’s minds off the economy by starting a war.
Would we win basketball games yes or no
If all that matters to you is winning, so be it. Frankly, after the years I have read you, you seemed so much more than that. Obviously I got the wrong impression.
Isn’t winning the goal of a basketball program?

Pitino would have been awesome, but this interview will likely allow Cragg to do his damn job without any fcktard interference. If that means $2 million to Odom to lure him here, I'm good.

Logen, I get your point. Winning at any cost is usually not a good thing. But I truly believe that if Pitino had come here, and yes, I know it’s off the table, he would be on his best behavior. His legacy is tainted and I believe he wants to recover from that. I think he’d have been a great coach and would have gone out of his way to walk the straight and narrow. But, it’s all a moot point now.

One takeaway from this should be that EVERYONE who still buys season tickets or donates to the school need to pick up the phone TODAY and tell them "no more".

Change the people in charge now or no more contributions and attending games.

Unless of course Oliva has Cragg fired, in which case we'll have a Pecora-like candidate as coach.

Question: Are there any other "big money" people on the Board of Trustees who see things differently than Repole? I know he's loaded, but there are others. Just wondering what the blowback could be in terms of response from the university.

I sent an email just now letting Oliva, Gempesaw and Cragg know exactly that. This has to end right now. Rock bottom.

It’s not all that matters to me but I’m starting to worry we are entering a Norm-like era of St. John’s basketball where we are going to be basement bound for the next 5-10 years. I’m racking my brain trying to find an option that could avoid this and unfortunately Pitino with all his baggage was the one thing that came to mind
You may be right but I don’t think so; but regardless, given the choice between your scenario and Rick Pitino, I will take the struggle. I may be an a**hole but in a day and age where integrity is nothing to most but something to scoff at, I like to shave in the morning with my head held high.

Of course, but winning by cheating isn’t really winning, is it? All it is in the end is bullshitting yourself. And I understand most laugh at that kind of Pollyanish thinking but I don’t; naive, probably, but it has served me well.

Next donation solicitation will get a note from me that I am waiting for new leadership.
Send AD Mike Cragg a note of support and tell him of our backing.

craggm@stjohns.edu
No send Cragg that e-mail AND cc Gempeshaw and Oliva along with a pledge for future donations based only on if Cragg is allowed full autonomy to run the athletic department.

50 years from now at my funeral the priest is going to say “ Mjmaherjr was a long suffering St. John’s fan but thankfully he heard the Mike Repole interview live “

repole probably called in the station saying that he wants to talk st. john's which hardly ever happens on the show. and mike francessa let him talk because he has a beef with the university also.
