Current AP Ranking Team Record Conference

#1 Gonzaga 8-0 West Coast

#2 Kansas 6-0 Big 12

#4 Virginia 7-0 Atlantic Coast

#5 Michigan 7-0 Big 10

#6 Nevada 8-0 Mountain West

#13 Texas Tech 7-0 Big 12

#17 Buffalo 7-0 Mid-American

#20 Arizona State 7-0 Pac 12

#25 Furman 8-0 Southern

Unranked St. John's 7-0 Big East

Unranked Houston 6-0 American Athletic

If St. John's goes 12-0 before the Big East Conference starts will they get into the Top 25?

Probably.

Can anyone explain how Kentucky is ranked so high? They were blown out by Duke. All of their wins have been against cupcakes.

Yes.Especially with 39 votes already. Take it one game at time though. Long season with many twits and turns for all team except a select few who will be in the top tier of the top 25. All goals are to get to the dance!!!!!

Best typo so far this season.

I think they are in the Top 10 because they haven't lost to anyone since their eye-opening loss to Duke. Their seven successive wins since then has been by an average 21 point margin. If Seton Hall knocks them off this Saturday they will drop but still remain in the Top 25 based on them being Kentucky.

If a non blue blood or mid-major had the same results they would not be in the Top 25 let alone Top 10.

Kentucky’s Schedule:
Duke (7-1 record) - Lost - 118-84
Southern Illinois (5-3) - Won - 71-59
North Dakota (4-4) - Won - 96-58
VA Military (5-4) - Won - 92-82
Winthrop (4-3) - Won - 87-74
Tennessee St (2-5) - Won - 77-62
Monmouth (0-9) - Won - 90-44
UNC Greensboro (7-2) - Won - 78-61

it's not 39 votes it's 39 points. you get 25 for a 1st vote and 1 pt for #25. 2 guys (Dave Borges hartford Courant and Jon nyatawa Omaha herald) have been voting for us since the beginning and have #19 (7) and #21 (5) respectfully so thats 12 of the 39 right there. Then there's Theo Lawson at 22 (4), Norm Wood #24 (2), Jon Rothstein #25 (1), Joey Knight #24 (2), Jerry Carino (covers rutgers) #18 (8), Elton Alexander #22 (4), Dick Vitale #24 (2), Carlos Silva #24 (2), and Bruce Pascoe #24 (2). So out of the 35 AP voters about a third think we're in the top 25. We'll get there eventually but our 39 pts has more to do with 4 of these guys (borges, nyatawa, alexander and cariono) right now as they account for 24 of the pts and it will take a while to get more since we won't have another big game that will make them pay attention till the big east starts.

Northwestern with a furious comeback against Michigan down 2 with 13 minutes to go.

Well, when I said wait until Kentucky played Seton Hall and if they lost to the Hall, Kentucky would fall I had no inkling that the KY would lose. But I think Stjohnnie75 was pleased to see Kentucky drop 10 places in today's announced Top 25?

I'm not pleased to see that St. John's is the only unranked team among the remaining nine undefeated teams. Will Furman be the next one to drop off?

I don’t think we should be ranked yet due to schedule. With that said Kentucky shouldn’t be ranked either at this time.

Furman being ranked is a joke. They have one win in the top 130 (by RPI).

I did have a blast at Furman in college when they hosted a lax tournament (we crushed them easily which I find funny that they are now D1) when we attended a massive bon fire party hosted at a huge farm near campus.

Well, hopefully they will drop off the list of being undefeated later tonight and then disappear from the Top 25 replaced by The Redmen!

This looks so nice:

Funny story about Furman. I went to a golf clinic in Delray Beach run by former LPGA stars Meg Mallon and Beth Daniel a few years ago. There was a Q & A component. Daniel was asked where she played college golf. She said she went to Furman, which is a Christian school. She told the crowd that she used to go to Furman home football games with her friends when their mascot was the Christian Knight. The fans would yell "F.U.C.K". all game long (Furman University Christian Knights). The administration promptly changed the Christian Knights to the Paladins.

I was at the NYU (Kramer and Hairston) blowout of Furman (with Gerry Smith and Gerry Glur) at the Garden in '63. Purple Paladins vs Violet?

Houston with a tough test tonight against LSU at home. Game is on ESPN2 at 9 pm.
