Never thought I'd say this, but I miss the sick athleticism that Lavin's teams had
Worst opening line since Bulwer-Lytton.
Are those they guys who co-wrote "The Mikado"?

Actually finally got a chance to see red-white replay. Was impressed overall with our first intrasquad scrimmage. We really pass the ball and move well. Spacing is great. Shooting was actually decent for a first-time game atmosphere. We have a lot of guys who have to be guarded.
Overall most impressed with Lovett, Durand, Owens. These were generally most composed players. Lovett fast and can pass and score. He made a few turnovers but is going to be hard to stop. Lovett really is a clone of Showtime when he was healthy, and that is a good thing. Showtime before his injury was amazing. Durand was a beast. Nuff said. Owens is long, smooth, a good passer, shot blocker and finisher. He's got massive upside as a PF and wish we had him right away, but the offseason will be tremendous for him.
Mussini is excellent passer with vision. His shot wasn't falling but I suspect this wasn't his typical shooting day. Seemed to have the yips early.
Ellison could not finish at all and needs to work on his shot. He looked like a freshman, but his overall talent was evident. Didn't have a good shooting game, but smooth in the open court and good with both hands. He's going to be very good and by mid-season will be a lot better than he is now. A lot of DJ Kennedy there.
Mvouika was excellent as well. A veteran with good body awareness and can't be left open. He was efficient. Sima also was good, but a bit raw yet. He has more offensive ability than anybody we've had at center for a while. Smart player who also has best days ahead.
Jones was totally different than the old cj. We need this one to come to play. He played well overall. Yakwe is a ridiculous athlete and has tools, but very raw and will benefit from the redshirt year. He's not ready and needs a lot of seasoning. Darien Williams doesn't seem to have gotten into a flow. He didn't look good overall, but he really can shoot it from outside. He's definitely not a PF and paint guy. Hopefully he improves as season moves on. The jury still out because he didn't show much in this one early, but the guy can shoot which is always a plus.
Overall, I thought this type of play from both red and white teams was a joy to watch. Unselfish play, great passing and spacing. Even though sloppy at times, that is to be expected for a first scrimmage. Even though sloppy, we showed a lot of guys can really hit shots. We won't be an easy out for most teams this year.

MCN-
You thought Ellison looked like a freshman? When I saw him on Saturday I was impressed with his maturity and felt he looked anything but a freshman.
