Red Storm Tip-Off

Court looks fine. Freshened up, but very generic looking. Think we could have done better with that.

I'm on the road.
Sounds Jordan-esque.
Wow!

takeaways

- loved Keita's mini hook shot
- LJ is dynamic
- Roberts looks noticeably bigger from when I saw him at Advocare tourney in Orlando
- AD Cragg putting sneaker sponsorship up for grabs to get best deal, (Nike would not surprise me), committing to make MSG home and negotiate there
- Ponds didn't hit a 3

Earlington seems to like the left corner three. He made 2 of them.

might get more from Roberts than I was expecting. Fig is going to score a lot of points. A lot more athletic and faster than I was expecting. Not loving Keita and Earlington shooting 3s even making a few but did like seeing Keita and Roberts in the middle with forearm to the back.

RJ Davis from Stepinac HS, very talented;

Figueroa was very impressive. The three freshmen held their own and yes, Roberts seems stronger than his high school games. He will get plenty of playing time behind Keita. Our best player was way too Slick and hopefully doesn't attempt the 25 foot shots he attempted a couple of times during the season. He was the only player who didn't take the scrimmage seriously. Trimble still a threat when left open for the 3. Mikey Dixon was cool and collected.
Mullin sat on the table blocking Oliva's view which must have had Mike Maher pulling his hair. Waiting for Tony Bennett to perform.

If you missed the scrimmage, there were many positives. Greg Williams will absolutely see minutes this year.

If, like me, you have been longing for a big man bully in the paint, I issue this unfortunate warning.......Keita likes the three.

This is why Kofi is a must get. Keita is a natural power forward who has range.

Zach B now reporting that Heron not yet cleared, wouldn’t be eligible to play if there was a game scheduled for tomorrow.

Really sorry to pass on the initial report. I’ve been a die-hard fan for 35 years (since I was 11), it’s aged me significantly.

Takeaways:

1. Crowd was surprisingly good...packed house.
2. Cragg was right there watching every bit of it and seems like a truly dedicated guy.
3. The new court is very refreshing and brightens up the arena...surprisingly the air was also perfect. It was not a sauna.
4. Yes it's only tip off but LJ looked absolutely insane. He was all over the place dunking, blocking, rebounding, stealing, threading needles passing, etc. He really reminds me of Jakarr Sampson but hopefully as a better shooter. He looked like the best player on the floor. Very athletic and can make acrobatic dunks.
5. Dixon looks like he will be at worst a solid addition on the bench
6. Roberts looked taller and longer than I expected...he may not be 7 ft tall but he is veryy lanky. Can be disruptive.
7. The performer Sheck Wes nearly fell backwards over a speaker during the concert before catching himself. By the way, he did not bring up politics, just did his show and left which was nice.
8. Hate to say it but doubt Caraher can give us much at this level...seemed to be in slow motion out there. Again only tip off but just my guess from seeing him play a bit. Hope he proves me wrong.
9. Went to Parson's after to have a few beers and wash down the Acquista's.

I have been out of the loop for a week and forgot about the tip off. Really appreciate everyone’s reports. I wouldnt worry about Ponds. He has too much on the line.
