Red Storm Tip-Off
I give both of those websites all the credit in the world. They both capitalized on the young male demographic trends of the moment to launch highly successful businesses. Bleacher Report was launched in the middle of Idiot America and realized that they could get useless free content from high school wannabe sports journalists and the young males of the era would eat up the garbage content. Barstool saw the shift to Douchebag America over the past few years and realized by throwing in a healthy dose of misogynistic humor they too could build a media empire. Both have done very well and I'm not saying they do not wield any influence.

My criticism was of the readers, most of whom I imagine are a lot like you, who are stooping to this level of content.
I don't want to get involved with the second paragraph, but I think the first one is spot-on.

Bleacher and Barstool (especially) are rags but you are correct they do have large audiences. Is it the audience that the school is looking for? I don't know the answer to that question, but I would hope not. But like the say, any PR is good PR.
Barstool is way more popular than ESPN in the 18-30 demographic in terms of pop culture IMO. Many got tired of politics at ESPN and they just aren't hip anymore once they lost their great anchors for SC and went away from sports. ESPN actually was going to work with Barstool I believe, however they were too PC concerned about their content and cancelled. This is why Barstool is popular. I don't think you give them enough credit.
During the college basketball season my only dose of misogynistic humor is Big East Boards.

Not going to get into the rest of the bait, but don't remember seeing any anti-woman posts on Barstool. If anything, women are celebrated. Kinda weird when there are tons of women wearing Barstool stuff and fighting each other to be on the "Barstool Smokeshows" Instagram page. They even have a page "Chicks in The Office" which is a female offshoot of Barstool which is popular with women. If you think Barstool is sexist then I suppose SI Swimsuit is too? Barstool is literally just funny videos, sports, beer, pretty women, and stupid humor. That used to be called being male. Not saying everyone has to like it and I get why some won't, but never saw any evidence of it being anti-woman. I'm not obsessed with it, but I don't really get the hate either.

Anyway, the point is we are getting our name out there more and more and this goes back to beating Duke and Nova last year. Being in articles, on SC, on Barstool, on 5th Year, on Bleacher Report, on CBS Radio, etc. it helps legitimize us IMO. But obviously winning is the ultimate if you want people to take notice.

Women are the best. Women are the greatest. Women are why we are here.
Thank you.
On with the games...

Just some perspective

The Univ. of Memphis' preseason men's basketball event, "Memphis Madness," drew a crowd of 18,000 to FedExForum last night for Penny Hardaway's on-court debut as the "newest Tigers coach." Six "top 50 recruits in the class of 2019" were in the crowd. The night also featured performances by locally based rappers Derez De'Shon, Moneybagg Yo, BlocBoy JB and Yo Gotti. Perhaps the "only disappointment on the night was the absence of two reported and rumored stars," as "neither Drake nor Justin Timberlake was seen.
