It's just very strange, because these are supposed to be batting practice fastballs that we seem to swing and miss at. Keep in mind this is a major recruiting event. Recruits want to know who's performing too. Other schools are rolling out Meek Mill, Drake, etc. and the rumor is that some underground rapper from Harlem is coming...someone I've never heard of and don't think many have. How are fans/recruits supposed to get excited with no information 2 days before tip off? I know I may exaggerate at times but this really isn't one of them. Go check how other schools run this stuff.

Check out how Providence does it the right way. Big name performing (2 Chainz) and it has been known to fans at least back to 9/26 if not earlier. Cooley also indicated it was a very important recruiting tool and wanted more invested into it.
At the end of the day, how much does it even matter? Look, most of the kids who come to this event to see a rapper, never end up coming to any of the games. I also don't remember us ever landing any of the recruits who came to these events for us in the past few years, and we certainly have had some names.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see us do it up as big as possible, but for whatever reason that didn't happen this year. Also another reminder that this event is targeted at current students and not posters on this board.
You can have the best of both worlds.
They can do the midnight madness style event for the students, and bring back the open practice they did for season ticket holders at MSG a few years ago. That was a cool event. We saw some drills that they ran, a 20 minute scrimmage, Lavin took questions, and the players stuck around afterwards to sign autographs. You could do it at Carnesecca Arena just as easily, if you don't want to tie down MSG for that.
Lavin mentioned then that they were trying to make that an annual event, but that would up being his final season at St. John's, and they haven't picked it up since.
