Seems conclusive, but the NCAA does nada to the schools involved...the coaches go on unscathed?
Self?[/quote]

I have stated as have others and recently Mario DiMaria, the NCAA cannot do anything to the schools involved right now because there are still on-going Federal investigations/cases. The NCAA has been told to stay out of it by the Feds. This is common in cases where they have jurisdiction, even criminal ones where they tell the locals to wait until they are done. There is more to come on all of this. Once it is all over, the FBI will even turn over copies of files and evidence if the NCAA's wants but will not do it now while there are cases still open.

Now whether or not they will actually ever go after the blue bloods after the case is done is a separate matter and a point of much discussion but to harp on why they haven't done anything up to this point or immediately after the verdic on this first case is pointless because they can't.

After these convictions, one would think the indicted assistant coaches, like Book Richardson, are thinking about turning on Miller & other head coaches in the mix who “never knew anything”

You would think so.

Here is an Article from SBNation regarding "5 winners and 7 losers from the big college basketball corruption verdict". Everbyody's "favorite" coach (called a hypocrite on this thread) and another one who tried to lieu away our top recruiter are mentioned. Guess what side they fall on.

Ever since he denied coloring his hair (a 71 year old man of Polish ancestry with jet black hair) he's lost all credibility with me.

Didn't mean to imply, action by the NCAA was expected now...the question is: What about 'ever'?

Definitely worth discussing but many don't think they will ever go after the blue bloods and if they do, it will be a slap on the wrist. You know the old, “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky it will probably slap another two years probation on Cleveland State.’’

I already see the schools defense and it is provided by the prosecution and with these verdicts, the schools were “defrauded” by those who have been convicted. The schools were "victims" here. Not saying I'm buying it (I am not from Missouri but you still have to "show me" that those outside the ones charged now and in the future knew nothing), but that will be one of their defenses.

He must be one of those Asian Polish people.

It seems that the case is predicated on the charge of interstate wire fraud. This is present in most non-violent federal cases. This would be a difficult case for the AUSA to make because who do we identify as the victim?
If the victim is the school, that would presume the head coach, athletic director and other university personnel knew nothing of the payoffs. We know most schools give, at least, tacit approval to the behavior of their athletic departments, especially if they are successful.

The money being spent in free agency is obscene.

Oh wait, sorry. I thought this was a baseball thread.

_______________

An informed poster on this site with ties to Christ the King HS (who stopped regularly posting about a year or so ago) identified $ as a factor when Rawle Alkins committed to Ari$ona. He indicated that the Alkins "posse" repeatedly told him the same 4 or so school that were at the top pf Alkins' list without even a mention of Ari$ona, until one day, a week or so before he committed they mentioned Ari$ona for the first time.

Given the evidence received in Court it is amazing that Sean Miller still the Ari$ona men's basketball coach.

“Creighton is knee-deep in this situation. The Jays recruited Brian Bowen for two years and were named in the FBI investigation for allegedly offering the Bowen family $100,000 and two jobs for Bowen’s father. Creighton is in the middle of an internal investigation on the matter, and head coach Greg McDermott has said in a statement he’s never purposely violated NCAA rules and would never allow a staff member to do so.

But on Sunday, ESPN reported Dawkins was in regular communication with McDermott, Creighton assistant Preston Murphy and former Creighton star Justin Patton from May 3, 2017 to July 2, 2017.”
