Recruiting Impact on “Scandal Schools”

I sent a tweet to Cunningham making it very clear why he should pack his bags and head to St johns. I expect an announcement shortly.

I saw that too. They hired his brother as an assistant coach obviously so they could land cade. Very slimey program.

You knew there was a reason he was going there. Who the heck would want to play for ok st?[/quote]

In the past 20 years Ok St has been in 12 NCAA tournaments and have made it to a final four.

What have we done in that time? Why should anyone want to play for us?

We need a little more self awareness here if we are gonna take shots at other programs and whether they are a good destination or not lol

Well said, Jack.

On a more realistic note for us lol, what about the chances of Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe moving on from Oklahoma State? I believe we were technically in his top 5 at one point with Oklahoma St., Seton Hall, Georgetown and South Carolina. I also believe Seton Hall and Georgetown are full at this point. Moncrieffe is 6’7 - 200 and a 3-4 star type recruit from Canada. Dream?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No top recruit should go to ok st. its like when durant went to texas. To an Northeast guy who watches big east basketball, these schools are terrible. Do not be mad at me that you hate the program you root for.

I don’t “hate” St. John’s. I love St. John’s.

I’ve loved this team since I was a kid and now im a grown man and alum as well

My point is, we haven’t been as successful as Oklahoma St in the last 20 years, so who are we to question why a kid would go there?

And your KD example, I’m not sure what that does for this discussion. Cunningham is from Arlington, TX.

If your argument is that you have northeast coast bias and selfishly want players to stay in the area no matter what, okay...

But that doesn’t mean every other school in the country sucks for top players to go to.

But yes, I hate St. John’s because I’m not delusional and realize players will go to schools all over the country and they have every right to do so

What about the rest of OSU's 2020 class?

For as good as Cunningham is, there was more to OSU’s 2020 class than just the five-star guard. Cal Baptist graduate-transfer Ferron Flavors was set to enroll, as was four other freshmen including Matthew Alexander-Moncrieffe, Donovan Williams, Rondel Walker and Montreal Pena. The former two were prior travel teammates of Cunningham’s while Alexander-Moncrieffe had been training with Cunningham in recent weeks in the Dallas-Fort Worth region in the lead-up to summer workouts.

Flavors was good at Fairfield.

Hiring a top recruit's brother is not illegal. But it is funny that his credentials were so sparse that the profile page had to talk about his U15 AAU team and leading a high school team to district titles.

You did take something that had nothing to do with St johns and used it to take a shot at them.

But lets drop it. In only a few months we will have more enlightened conversations about a very good st johns basketball team.

And yes, hiring a brother is not illegal, but it is ridiculous.

Texas wasn't terrible , Rick Barnes has always been a fantastic recruiter look at what he has done at Tennessee. While Rick was at Texas he also landed Chris Mihm, Maurice Evans, TJ Ford, Royal Ivey (NYCs Finest), Lamarcus Aldridge , PJ Tucker, Daniel Gibson, Avery Bradley, Damion Jones, Dexter Pittman, DJ Augustin, Tristan Thompson, Corey Joseph, Jordan Hamilton , Myles Turner. All big time high school players

I understand these programs are good. Im saying THE best recruit in the country has much better options then these schools. When you think college basketball, ok st and texas are not the schools you think of.

Im not going to comment on this anymore. What i said was taken waaaaay to literal.
