Realistic Expectation for First Four Games

4-0. Until they show me that they can lose a game, we have new sets that people haven't seen yet that will knock the balls outta your pants.
Paultzman asked for realistic expectations.;)
:-D I haven't seen them lose yet, so I may change my expectations once/if that happens. Once we pull out the double secret sets for BE play, sky's the limit my friend.

Win on Saturday and no way Marquette beats us at home. No way. And Nathalie doesn’t want an angry mjmaherjr driving home from New Jersey next Saturday complaining the whole car ride so our guys are going to give us a nice post Christmas Present.

Not without Sedee...More likely a nice long-range Christmas present.

4-0, until SH hits the first shot of the game, then it becomes 0-4.

Yeah that! Someone let the Rawdog out!

Keita may be key but a different perspective, how will opposing guards handle STJ pressure in close games? Shamorie taking over a game when our offense implodes is different than opposing guard trying to avoid "not another turnover " as steals and bad shots accumulate. Keep it close and start a run and watch what happens. Markus Howard trying to play hero ball late in the game as Marquette offense gets tight is what I think our pressure can do.

Would be thrilled (and surprised) if we go 4-0
Would be very happy if we go 3-1
Would not be surprised (or very disappointed) if we go 2-2
Would be disappointed (but not surprised) if we go 1-3

Keita has not been in flow of offense for a while now so wouldn’t count on him in that respect. Ten good minutes of defense and rebounds would be great. Keys are;
1)How well we guard the three, especially guarding Powell. Someone suggested a box and one other day.
2)How well our sharing the ball converts into points. Will Clark and Figgy shots be on target. Will Ponds have to take over?
3)We keep winning without offensive rebounding so one must assume that has not been a coaching priority.

I'd be happy -- though not very happy -- to go 2-2, but like you, would be disappointed but not surprised if it's 1-3.

After all the years of disappointments, I am very hopeful of a great season. However, I am anxious as sheet about the first four BE games.

With three of the games away, I can't imagine going 4-0. That just doesn't seem possible. Realistically, 2-2 would make me happy and 3-1 would be a great start of the season.

Make sure Nathalie updates us via the complaint thread if we do indeed lose to the Hall. I’m sure it would be epic!

OhioFan, anything is possible, that's why they play the games. Am I expecting 4-0? Nah.
I'm expecting 3-1, we're not a young team, they went to war last year, and Heron the same at Auburn.
SHU game is @ their place, but can you say that they're better? No.
Marq - Real good team, but lets not act like they're elite and has Zion and RJ on it. If Howard goes off, yeah well so can Ponds.
G-Town - They don't impress me at all.
Nova - I'm thinking we lose this after last year kicking their ass over there.

If we lose maybe I'll have her record my ranting on the phone :)

The funniest was during the Norm time when she would say " why are you getting so angry you knew they would lose ". lol

Maher, Mrs. OhioFan said exactly the same thing to me many times. LOL
All 4 are winnable, but I think the team is going to feel it coming off a weak non conference schedule.
Why, they been through the wars last year, they know what it's all about.
You think that they don't know that the B.E. conf will be much harder then the ooc part?
They know that they'll have to double or even triple their intensity.

All true. They know. But there is something to be said for doing it in at least a few of the first 12 to be sharp. We shall see. Hope you’re right and they whack the Hall.

Certainly, 3 of the first 4 BEC games on the road—with the home game against maybe the best team in the Conference—is a challenge.
Combine that with 2 scares against U-Cal and VCU, other spotty play, and a tendency to play down to the competition raises the concern level, to be sure.
Plus, without Keita, we are mismatched against the Hall in toto.
So, we shall see.
But Ponds and Simon and Clark are warriors, and Heron and Figueroa are easy players.
I think we’ll weather this first challenge well.
