Rasheem Dunn
Not to be dramatic but this thread is the worst.

2 star recruit. Transfers in from Cleveland state. Has given everything he has and has been a huge part of pretty much all of our biggest games.

Due to #0 shrinking in big moments and #30 always in foul trouble we have no choice but to defer to Dunn in big spots. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. But he’s given us a lot more than I expected he would.

Calling him a “street baller” is ridiculous. He does everything he can to help the team win and a lot of the times has no choice but to freestyle out there because no one else can create anything. Honestly the disrespect is maddening to me but I get it, a lot of losses piling, a lot of frustration, but I’m glad we have Dunn
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm glad we have Dunn as well. He's a good player with a role on a team that plays our style. He's just not an all-BE level PG or SG. That's not a knock, nor is it disrespectful. It's just the truth.
Personally, I don’t care about that. What I care about is people complaining about him driving into traffic late in games or running the shot clock down. I’ve seen a few posts complaining on that.

Everyone here watches the games. I know that, but sometimes it really seems like some of you don’t. When we have big possessions late in games this year, you all see what happens right? We pass the ball around the perimeter aimlessly until it eventually gets to Dunn and then he tries to create on his own.

How do we watch that and then come away blaming Rasheem Dunn? How about the coaches over on the sidelines draw something up? How about our preseason all big east selected players get the ball and actually step up in a big situation? How about that?

But no let’s blame the 2 star transfer who god forbid has the balls to step up and try to get a bucket late in a game even though he’s undersized. Context matters. If Dunn is the villain for being the guy to take the shot in others eyes, fine, but in my eyes I’m looking right at our more talented players who continue to give nothing in big situations
Correct...ask yourself...time running down...ball at top of key w/intense defensive pressure...who do you want with the ball? Heron, Figueroa or Dunn?

As one who has criticized Dunn exactly as you describe, let me say I now think I was wrong for exactly the reasons you describe.
And I’m not saying it’s not understandable. When a player misses a shot late or gets blocked of course the first thing your mind goes to is to blame the player who didn’t make the shot. But man, the more I watch these games it’s baffling to me how little we are getting from players who are more talented than Dunn.

And everyone knows I’m hesitant to throw a lot of blame at Mike A right now because he’s dealing with a team that lacks talent, sure, but can’t we come up with something other than just make our undersized guard try to create something? Because what ends up happening is he doesn’t always come through and then people blame Dunn when he doesn’t deserve it.

It’d be like if the Lakers forced one of their players like Quinn Cook to iso at the end of a close game and he failed. And lakers fans blame Cook after the game like many on here blame Dunn. But why isn’t the ball in LeBrons hands? Anthony Davis? Not a great analogy cause Heron/LJ aren’t on that level whatsoever but the point remains they are still superior talents who should be stepping up in those situations.
Jack...great post...I said this once before...you are beyond your years...

BTW, have you graduated?

Would you have projected Dwight Hardy as an all big east level player after his Jr year? His Jr year stats per 40 minutes (not that stats are everything) are not that far off from Dunn's. Just sayin'
I been trying not to post, but i been reading this thread and want to say one thing.
Dunn is probably the best player on the team for 38 minutes but for the final 2minutes i want him on the bench
Last 2 possessions he milks the clock then drives 1 on 3, under hands the ball off the back board and never hits the rim, instead of playi g super hero why not pass it to someone open, THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE FREAKING OPEN, SOMEWHERE ON THE FREAKING COURT.
Then the next possession he dribbles it off his knee.

We score just once on those two possessions we win, so while he isn't why we lost, he's a big part of it.
No 9ne can dispute that.
In fairness (and I like MA), he doesn’t set up at half court at his own discretion.

cma been successful everywhere he went. Did he do this at those schools a well? Having one guy milk the clock, then go 1 on 3? If he never wanted that anywhere else, then why here?
And Dunn did that in a few games, so maybe it's by design?

Yes, it really happened. It's reality, I'm not making this stuff up.

It wasn't you that I was referencing with the "can't shoot or dribble..." comment. . I should have been clearer. I too would have much preferred that he drove and dished on the last play, since I'm sure that GT was focusing on him. Who knows, maybe that's what the plan was before he lost the ball. . But lets face facts, the odds of him scoring on a drive are pretty good. Agree that he hasn't had much luck at the end of games, and screwed up the 2nd to last possession, but I still want the ball in his hands right there. And apparently so does CMA. Don't see how you can blame Dunn and absolve CMA.

Maybe that's why cma was fired at Arkansas? He goes to one guy to often, and most of the results aren't good?
I mean why keep going to Dunn there, even others here said,it's the same thing with Dunn, charging into a wall and bad things happen.
I know you can't judge cma now, but I want to see his end of game plays in say 2 seasons from now.

FWIW CMA on the Red Storm Report said the plan was for Dunn to dribble the ball up the court and look for Figgy. Someone had to bring the ball up the court-who better than Dunn?

Exhibit A (or P or Q..) for kicking the kid while he’s down. Along with comments like “the kid can’t shoot or dribble”, etc.
lol I never said he can't dribble or shoot, trying to words in my mouth?

Here's what I said: "Last 2 possessions he milks the clock then drives 1 on 3, under hands the ball off the back board and never hits the rim, instead of playi g super hero why not pass it to someone open, THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE FREAKING OPEN, SOMEWHERE ON THE FREAKING COURT.
Then the next possession he dribbles it off his knee."

Look at the final minute of the gtown game if you don't believe me.
Yes, it really happened. It's reality, I'm not making this stuff up.

And one other thing i said:
"Dunn is probably the best player on the team for 38 minutes"

If he couldn't dribble or shoot, I don't think I'd say that, Monte.
FWIW CMA on the Red Storm Report said the plan was for Dunn to dribble the ball up the court and look for Figgy. Someone had to bring the ball up the court-who better than Dunn?
I'm just sick of losing for 20 years, sunday just put me over the top
G-town isn't even a good team, you cant blow a 17pnt lead at msg to them.
that's bs. I been in a real foul mood since sunday

Would you have projected Dwight Hardy as an all big east level player after his Jr year? His Jr year stats per 40 minutes (not that stats are everything) are not that far off from Dunn's. Just sayin'
I been trying not to post, but i been reading this thread and want to say one thing.

We score just once on those two possessions we win, so while he isn't why we lost, he's a big part of it.
