Rasheem Dunn Waiver Denied (APPEAL WON)

Is he more of a SG than a PG? Doesn't really matter because he is going to play where he is going to play and the distinctions between guards have lessened. Just interesting to see him listed as SG. Either way, congrats to the kid and good day for the program.

Terrific news, just what we needed.
We have no one who can penetrate, get to the basket. Expect the bigs, especially Roberts, to get a few easy baskets as defenders switch off to stop the drive to the basket.

FWIW...This means that on the night of 12/18 against Albany the 2019/2020 St. John’s team will be whole Dunn and Steere both eligible.
I expect Rasheem’s early impact will be on defensive end with his physicality & intensity. Give it time on offense, feeing that will evolve, but unfair to expect big numbers out of gate.

Eventually if he gives SJU about 10 points a game, while he adds depth & more defensive intensity, I will be quite happy.
I would love that. Him forcing the issue on offense and everyone calling him a point guard has been my concern. He's a scoring guard/ 2 guard. This team works on team play both ends. Marcus Hatten was important for us on his team. We don't need that with this team. We need defense to offense and 5 guys in the right places.

True.
But it would be one heck of a story.
Kid gets screwed by the ncaa, misses 3 games, in the first game in a sju uniform he goes off.
Even if he doesn't come close to those # the rest of the year. Would be big story.

That's hoping, but you're right, in reality it's unfair to him, and shouldn't be expected

I haven’t seen Dunn play since Jefferson. He will get tested as the competition improves but he can definitely score.

Good points & correct he is not a PG

Great news to come home to!! Very happy for this kid no matter what he does on the court this year I am just glad he did not get screwed out of a chance to play!

What was the "new evidence" that we submitted, that the NCAA hack who made the original decision is a fing moron? Would still like to see that bum take about 10 Noah Syndergaard fastballs to the nut sack followed by about 10 more from Luis Severino, topped off by 10 more from Aroldis Chapman. If the hack happens to be a woman 10 kicks to the nether region, 10 stomach punches followed by 10 left hooks to the head by Amanda Nunes.

It’s always safe to set the expectations low and hope he’s a nice surprise.

You don’t wanna be “Orlando Sanchez’d” do you? ;)
Not to derail this too much but I was just thinking that Champagnie is the first kid in decades that we heard rumors over the summer how much he had developed etc, that actually is way better than advertised. His poise is superb but for a Freshman just really exceptional. That is what really stands out to me.
Maybe there is something to MAs player development. Let’s not forget Earlington and Roberts. They look like different players compared to last year. Glad to see Dunn cleared.

Hadn't been on the site since about noon and just saw this great news. Congrats Rasheem!! Better late than never for NCAA on making the right decision.

From everything I've read about Rasheem (haven't seen him play except on clips published here), seems like at least initially he'd be a great spark of energy off the bench along with Earlington & Williams. Not sure we really need a designated third scorer to be successful as we've got several guys (Roberts, Champagnie, Steere, Dunn) who can fill that role on any given night.

Wonderful news. I know it's a small sample size, but what little I've seen of both Dunn and Rutherford, Dunn seems to have a Big East body and game. Granted he's not a PG per se, but he may wind up being the hybrid starting guard that we need for Big East play.

Congrats Rasheem, can't wait to see u in uniform. Good things come to those who wait. You waited long enough. Let's go

And a thank you to Dickie V who stepped up for the kid and supported him and St. John's in a quest to right a wrong.
