Rasheem Dunn Waiver Denied (APPEAL WON)

This probably deserves new thread. I'd love to forget about all the nonsense that happened prior to a few minutes ago.

Obviously happy cause it makes the team better but especially happy for a guy who has done everything right and deserves to play ball

If he plays within the team he will be a major and much needed asset. Until proven otherwise, I still like Rutherford at the point even if he isn't the power scorer that Dunn is and I'm not sure who gives us more as an outside threat. I don't think either offers that. Dunn off the bench as a spark makes more sense to me but we'll see.

Thank you to Mike Cragg for his professional and effective management of Rasheed’s appeal.

... and yes, I still despise the NCAA.
Watched Butler a bit last night and their guards can be very physical, especially Kamar Baldwin. My good friend JPM114,who knows Dunn’s game well, tells me his physicality and not backing down from anyone is where he’ll really help on D. Not a shooter, but can also score and draw fouls.

Getting him cleared will be a real positive in several respects.
The G'town guards will be interesting matchups for us. We should do better against them than last season.

Press release
QUEENS, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2019) – The NCAA has granted redshirt junior guard Rasheem Dunn a Legislative Relief Waiver, making the Brooklyn native immediately eligible to play for the Red Storm.

“We’re thrilled that the NCAA has made this decision and given a fine young man the opportunity to pursue his dreams,” said St. John’s Head Coach Mike Anderson. “Rasheem has always done things the right way and we’re very excited and appreciative that the NCAA has ruled in his favor.”

“I appreciate all the support I have received from St. John’s,” said Dunn. “I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity. It was worth the wait.”

The waiver, which was originally denied by the NCAA, was reconsidered after new evidence was presented in Dunn’s favor.

Kid is a team player for sure. He’s just offers more of a spark plug that can get to the basket. He’s not been a high percentage outside shooter but he’s far from a bad shooter and can make midrange stuff as well. He is aggressive at both ends and attacks. Main thing is we have Pg depth with two guys now, and different types of players which is good. Big news for us. Only a handful of games until Steere is back and we are full strength.

Nice to have another guy that can play the point. Rutherford is doing a nice job and this will take the burden off him and put other guys like Williams in a more natural position on the court. Also, he gets to acclimate prior to the BE season.

I know the NCAA deserves no credit here but at least in the end a wrong is right. No reason to punish this kid. None.
