@Providence, Wed. Jan. 25, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

I think the coaching staff deserves credit for managing the game, stopping the runs, and putting our guys in a position to win the game. There were some really nice adjustments just as the wheels were coming off the bus in the 2nd half.

You're right but I have to admit that I was scratching my head when Mullin called our last timeout with about a quarter of the game left. That's why he's making the big bucks and I'm sitting on my couch yelling at the TV for 2 1/2 hours. My wife thinks I'm nuts. She's right!!!

She's right. (So's mine) You've been around a long time and stuck it out. I used to look down at bandwagon fans but now I'm resigned to the fact that they are the mentally healthy ones.

One of the best wins this season in my book because they showed toughness, and stepped up during final minutes, on the road no less. Also thought one of the best coached games by Mullin so far. Loved his subs and distribution of mins to players. Wins like this go a long way! Again with the transfer talk??? enough about that and concentrate on now. Kids played great tonight! congrats to team! Go johnnies

Poker chips to the center of the table.......This team will beat Providence on Wednesday.

Love the optimism, but we NEVER win at Providence. It's not just us. The place is so damn depressing that every road team goes in at a disadvantage. The Friars are used to dealing with the suckitude, everybody else has to try to adjust.

We actually won there in 2014 and 2015. This year, I don't think they are much better than us, but I do think Cooley is a strong coach.

Better recruiter. Seriously you have to be a good recruiter to get kids with that thing on the back of his head. Not sure I could have played for him. I also don't think I could have taken Keady seriously when he was sporting the ridiculous comb-over. Wouldn't have played for Bobby Knight either. Who wants to get screamed at, kicked and choked for 4 years. Fran would have been a problem for me as well as would not have wanted to see his Johnson whenever he was mad.
We aren't born perfect so who the f cares about the back of his head?? Even if it was meant to be sarcastic, its not funny.

Williams made a few good & timely plays. Wish he could handle more minutes, Amar less/none.

Every time I look at Amar's physique, I wonder why he is not willing to mix it up underneath. Just crash the boards and play some D. His perimeter D is terrible. Just play underneath.

Great win! Second best of the season IMO. Providence is ranked #40 in RPI.

We reached double digits, something I really doubted before Syracuse.

We are in sixth place, ahead of Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall and DePaul. Really a great achievement half way through.

And we should beat G'town, Providence and Seton Hall next time out. You never know. at least we're not waiting for the season to end. Let's add to our 4 wins in the B.E.

Big win on the road!
Except for the defensive lapses we have little to complain about.
Lovett looks 100% again and Ellison keeps showing improvement.
Mully is starting to realize that Yakwe is  much too small to play the 5 and it remains our Achilles heal but a winded Williams more than made up for his absence in the second half.
I can only blame a momentary lapse in judgment by Mullin for insanely playing Mussini and Alibegovic at the same time which rendered us 3 against 5 on defense.
To be fair, Providence shot 62% for the game, and 40% from 3. I don't think FM and AA playing together had much of a negative impact...

Providence began to post up Mussini as soon as he entered the game. Neither of our Euros can guard anyone in the Big East.

You can add RF to that list as well

Too soon to tell. Richard is very young at 18 but at 6'9 he moves the ball well. I think his shooting will get better as he adjusts to the college game. I think this kid grows to 6'10 and gains muscle and will be a contributor by his sophomore year.

Better still stay on the bench. Who in God's name scouted this kid?

I needed oxygen after tonight's game :p

Ahmed must feel better after that foul at crunch time & fouling out to boot. Clearly he misheard Mullin who was yelling "No fouls" & thought he said opposite. Thought he played well at key points in game.

Mullins last time out was a great move. The team looked totally discombobulated at that point . They really calmed down after that . Did ten guys get playing time tonight ??v

The majority of their 62% shooting were layups on our olay defense.

It may have actually been a blessing in disguise, seeing as he can be pretty reckless at times.

He had a good game tonight, and can never question his effort. But, how can you possibly make that mistake if you have ANY sense of time and score. There is absolutely no way you are being told to foul in that situation 80 feet from the basket.

Great team effort, but Marcus gets the game ball tonight. He had the eye of the tiger from the opening tip, and he never let up. He wanted this win so badly, and he his will to win became infectious. He was not only the leading scorer, but he was the leader...on both ends of the court. Can't say enough good things about him tonight.

1. I think that Mullin playing his bench bigger minutes tonight (especially in the first half) was a message to the team about the no-show effort in the first half against the Hall. Good for him.
2. Outside of Williams, we play absolutely no defense. For the love of God, stop the damn ball just once, I'm begging you.
3. I would love to know what our plus/minus is with Williams in the game. Because it always seems as though we play more consistently when he's in there.
4. I suppose I can't complain when the "drive and circus shot" and "contested 3-ball" land in the basket. I just wonder what Plan B is. Setting aside that I personally prefer a plan to streetball, the lack of a plan really bit us in the rear end at the end of the shot clock a few times. Just saying.
5. Gotta love Lovett's heart, toughness, skill set.

Overall, it's great to have the win (not to mention it keeps the LMF Season Goal of 7 conference wins well within reach). Would love to see the team come out and compete for 40 minutes with Xavier on Sunday. Would be great to see them in a "revenge game" mindset and show up looking for a win. Of course that will require 40 minutes of complete effort, which we haven't quite worked ourselves up to. Still, tonight's game was an improvement over the game at the Hall (though still far too much standing around in spots), and we can hope that Sunday will be an improvement over tonight.

The baby steps forward continue ...

Clearly you have never been with the right woman!

Agree. Also, re: your earlier post on Yawke, he continues to be the biggest enigma after what we saw last year. It just doesn't make any sense. Perhaps playing with Sima helped him for whatever reason (not having to guard the biggest guy on the court), but I recall him playing 5's last year and it still shouldn't impact his ability to use his athleticism to be a disruptor on the boards and on defense. Early in the game, Yawke didn't hustle for a loose ball, and Coach yanked him right out of the game. And he deserved it. Not giving up on the kid by any stretch, but someone needs to reach him.

Yes miscommunication Another point what does staff do with fruenberg He still looks lost Looks like a good kid but perhaps this level of play does not suit him HOPE HE IMPROVES
