@Providence, Wed. Jan. 25, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

Awesome game. Great win. Defense won it imo. TO and DW with the block! And the composure by DW. Happy for the team.
We are St. Johns!!!

real nice win tonight. Have to love the response after it looked like we were dead in the water and about to get run out of the building in the 2nd half. Ponds and Lovett were money tonight and Ahmed generally did a good job of playing under control. I still think he is our X factor. Under control and things open up. Out of control and everyone gets into frenzy mode.

While I didn't like the full court trap, I think Mullin did a great job tonight. Gutsy call not to take Ellison out after he got his fourth foul and spent the timeouts early to try to stabilize the game.

Not caving when they made run was key & step in right direction.

I fully expected to get run out of the building when Mullin used the last TO.

That was a terrific win, on the road and in a tough arena.

Several times I thought we were done: when they made their run in the 2H; when we burned all the TO's, when Ahmed fouled out (what was he thinking?) and of course it would have to be Diallo with a key block for them.

But great plays by Owens and Williams down the stretch and some ice-in-the veins foul shooting by lil' Shamorie with the game on the line. Great job guys!

Big win on the road!
Except for the defensive lapses we have little to complain about.
Lovett looks 100% again and Ellison keeps showing improvement.
Mully is starting to realize that Yakwe is  much too small to play the 5 and it remains our Achilles heal but a winded Williams more than made up for his absence in the second half.
I can only blame a momentary lapse in judgment by Mullin for insanely playing Mussini and Alibegovic at the same time which rendered us 3 against 5 on defense.

What a great win on the road
The unsung hero was Darien Williams for 2 reasons:
1. Obviously, the block on Providence's last possession
2. Just as important, in Providence's next to last possession, Owens blocked a shot and was about to taunt the player whose shot he blocked and probably would have gotten T'd up. That would have cost us 2 foul shots and it would have also been Owens' 5rth personal foul. Williams smartly pulled Owens away quickly to make sure that he didn't do anything foolish. Great move on his part.

Great win! Second best of the season IMO. Providence is ranked #40 in RPI.

We reached double digits, something I really doubted before Syracuse.

We are in sixth place, ahead of Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall and DePaul. Really a great achievement half way through.

I think the coaching staff deserves credit for managing the game, stopping the runs, and putting our guys in a position to win the game. There were some really nice adjustments just as the wheels were coming off the bus in the 2nd half.

You're right but I have to admit that I was scratching my head when Mullin called our last timeout with about a quarter of the game left. That's why he's making the big bucks and I'm sitting on my couch yelling at the TV for 2 1/2 hours. My wife thinks I'm nuts. She's right!!!

To be fair, Providence shot 62% for the game, and 40% from 3. I don't think FM and AA playing together had much of a negative impact...

I assume Williams can only go in spurts, but give him as many minutes as possible. He and Owens are at least decent. Time for Yakwe to play marginally & Amar should watch the bus.
I really hope Williams comes back next year

I've said it before and I'll say it again
Amar's shorts should be glued and nailed to the bench

Providence began to post up Mussini as soon as he entered the game. Neither of our Euros can guard anyone in the Big East.

She's right. (So's mine) You've been around a long time and stuck it out. I used to look down at bandwagon fans but now I'm resigned to the fact that they are the mentally healthy ones.

You can add RF to that list as well

Great win, especially after blowing our 9 point half time lead. We do know that these kids don't give up.
Drives, drives and more drives. We scored tonight through our penetration. After all, we have four starters who can penetrate.
As I watch each game I find it hard to believe both Lovett and Ponds are freshmen.
I'm afraid at this point of the season Freudenberg will only shoot if no one is guarding him.
If Yakwe's playing time continues to decrease he definitely won't return next year.
I think Providence stinks and deserves to be below us in the standing.
Now we can look forward to our next game.
Go Redmen!
