@Providence, Wed. Jan. 25, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

We got hammered coming out after the break, took some serious body blows, lost the lead, and still walked out with the win! Great job by the good guys!

I assume Williams can only go in spurts, but give him as many minutes as possible. He and Owens are at least decent. Time for Yakwe to play marginally & Amar should watch the bus.

Nice win by our guys! Fun game to watch. But did I miss any announcement about Yakwe? Did he see any playing time at all tonight?
he was in the game in the first half...

I think it was a good move by CM to limit Yakwe's minutes tonight. His athletic skills are through the roof, but more and more, his lack of basketball skills are being exposed. Something about the free for all style of last year played to his strengths

He played.

Owens and Williams are starting to take time from him, you can tell. They're just both foul-prone, so I think Mullin likes to save them.

Doesn't matter how you win in conference play, as long as you do it. Best game that Lovett and Ponds played together in the BE. That was the difference, IMO.

real nice win tonight. Have to love the response after it looked like we were dead in the water and about to get run out of the building in the 2nd half. Ponds and Lovett were money tonight and Ahmed generally did a good job of playing under control. I still think he is our X factor. Under control and things open up. Out of control and everyone gets into frenzy mode.

While I didn't like the full court trap, I think Mullin did a great job tonight. Gutsy call not to take Ellison out after he got his fourth foul and spent the timeouts early to try to stabilize the game.

Great road win!

Two things: we played bad defense the entire game, but the defense and effort on the last two possessions won us the game. Also, great use of timeouts from Mullin. Did a good job to try and kill the early 2nd half momentum from the Friars and ended up getting late timeouts when Prov took them. Kudos all around to the team!

I think the coaching staff deserves credit for managing the game, stopping the runs, and putting our guys in a position to win the game. There were some really nice adjustments just as the wheels were coming off the bus in the 2nd half.

Phew! Have to admit I turned off the TV at halftime of the SH game, and watched this one sporadically until the final five minutes. Great win, especially on the road. Was afraid we'd collapse in final minutes, but kids really sucked it up and came through at crunch time -- as did staff. (I need a drink.)

Yep. And like I said earlier, brilliant move by Mullin to call two timeouts so close to each other. ;)

Free throws were a huge factor in this one:

St. John's 17-19
Providence 18-27

The 6 point play we got in the first half loomed large as well (obviously, since we won by 5).
