@Providence, Tue., Feb. 13, 7p, CBSSN

A lot of weather ppl nowadays focus way too much on these hourly models. (Especially some of these Facebook guys). And change their guesses way to much on them and they know they fluctuate all the time.

This storm has gone from 0 inches to over a foot of snow from Jersey and Long Island (yes that includes you Brooklyn and queens) up Massachusetts’s.

Weatherman this isn’t a knock on you at all as Maher says you are awesome with your track record and his go to weather guy. What’s your take on the stor??
Expected storm track shifted south over the past day or so. This will likely be the first significant accumulation for NYC and Long Island in 2 years. I am surprised by how much the amounts in the forecast came up as a lot of things have to go right for that to happen. But, for those who can work from home...tomorrow would be an excellent day to do so.

As for Providence, they are looking at a significant storm as well.

Two key things...for those who shovel...be very careful. This is going to be wet and heavy. Slow and steady rules the day. For those who need to drive...please remember that it has been 2 years since we had a significant snow accumulation. There will be a lot of accidents caused by people who try to drive too fast or aggressively. Again, slow and steady rules the day. Stay safe.

One more thing for Eric. Yes, you absolutely have to be suspicious of a lot of social media "experts". You don't know who a lot of these people are and much more often than not, it is someone who does not have a formal education in meteorology and is not working in the field.

Thank you very much for the info! I love the weather and try to track as much to my ability lol. It is amazing how sophisticated things have gotten with storms nowadays.

Appreciate your take on the storm and forecast :)

I started dabbling into meteorology a few years ago, and weatherman is on point right here.

Well I think it’s finally come down to win this game or there will be no Dancing. And while I’m sure we hear this every time there’s a big game, this time it’s pretty real. Sure you can make a case for, “even if we lose, if we win the next 5 out of 6 etc etc etc “ but the reality is will we really win the next 5 out of 6 if we lose this game with the way the team has been playing lately? Well February is here and sadly this team has regressed, offensively, defensively, individually. Can a turn around happen, of course but it better start tonite or they will be putting the basketballs away early in Queens.

I mostly agree with this - tonight's game is huge. Very close to a must win game.

Latest hourly forecast for Providence I see has snow ending by 1 pm and accumulation anywhere from 4 - 8 inches. I expect if SJU got there yesterday, there'll probably play tonight.
No chance for the snow to end by 1pm in PVD. Heavy stuff until 1-2pm, and snow prob doesn't end until 5-6pm.
