Providence, Thur. Dec. 28, 7p, YES, 570AM

Wow that was disappointing. Concerns moving forward:
1- health of the two guards. It looked like Ponds pulled a calf muscle towards the end of the 1st half.
2- it looked like they gave up as Providence was shooting the lights out in the 2nd half.

Ponds had what looked to be a bandage or ice pack wrapped around his leg. He was visibly limping.

St. John's Shamorie Ponds suffered an undisclosed knee injury, per Chris Mullin. Mullin: "I don't know what happened. He just said he's in pain." #SJUBB

Putrid says it!

Finally home from that disaster! Where was the defense?
Listening to the post game on the drive home. Announcers we're getting in the quiet crowd

Cooley put on a coaching clinic tonight. Our staff failed to make any adjustments or call timeouts.

Simon should have stayed on Cartwright.

Did not use our timeouts wisely to stop bleeding until too late.

Finally, depth is a major issue. Tonight you saw it down low with some of their big guys.

Either guys aren't listening to Mullin, or everyone has a green light from anywhere on the court. This isn't Golden State with 3 future hall of famers. Our percentage from 3 is awful. Rein this guys in from 3.

We were outplayed and out coached. I wonder how many days in a row Cooley gave his team off during Xmas...doubt it was 5.....just saying

Hey Dink if we lose Ponds like LoVette season over.

I totally agree. It'll likely look similar to Mullin's first season and the Norm Roberts years.

Anybody catch the score and how much time left in game when Ponds was injured?

Even with Lovett he probably would not made up a 22pt diff
AFTER THIS HOPE we can win 7 Can not see how we are going to change all of our problems shooting % rebound defense % from beyond the ark I am not sure but think we only shot 275 FROM 3 THEY SHOT OVER 50 if that continues we are in big trouble

Sold out crowd and CA was practically silent, even up through halftime while it was close.  Could almost count the cheering student section.

Brutal game to be in attendance for

Hope Ponds is OK.

Lovett was walking around and looked in good spirits...but my lack of info guess is he's not coming back right away.

Dink, what makes you think it’s Ponds knee? Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any reference in Rothstein’s article to a knee injury.

It was 75-57 when he left, but some people I know, who were watching on TV, said that he came down awkwardly on that steal/layup, that put us up 32-26. That may be where the injury was suffered, since he had been playing a great game to that point, and wasn't the same after that.

St. Jean said on the radio postgame that Ponds said his knee was hurting him.

This was supposed to be Mullin's best team, approved defense, adds Clark and Simon to Lovett and Ponds.
No slip ups in the ooc part of the season and going 10-2, should beat a PC team that is hurting and playing bad.

All of that, the gets smacked by 22pnts at home to them. It really makes you say: "Now that B.E. play is here, are we gonna play like garbage?
Is 0-3 on the way??? Stay tuned.

What concerns me more then one poorly played game is the health of Lovett and Ponds.

That's everything, obviously. If those two are both out for an extended period of time, the season's over (and the rest of the players on the team would get a total pass from me, provided they play hard).
