Maybe its just this generation.
Yakwe looked like he was wearing a coat on the bench. Lol

I was at the game and after Trimble got pulled in the first half 45 seconds later Coach told him to go back in and Trimble refused to go in. On the other side Justin Cole came in the 2 half and played a heck of a game on defense for them. #sjubb
.... if true, with Trimble refusing to reenter the game after Mullin directed him makes it likely that Trimblw will be a transfer this year.
Maybe someone should start a thread "Players not transferring this year".

Will slick Ed shake Mullin’s hand this time?
He even stopped to talk to him.
They were cool at 1st game, chatting it up b4 game. The past altercation probably in the past, albeit not forgotten.

I don’t think health has been an issue w/Yakwe...
When I was at the Marquette game at alumni hall I was told by the staff Yakwe was healthy just coach’s decision not to play him.
Wow what even one additional capable player would have meant to us this year.
Just a couple of thoughts/observations:

3- Year after year we seem to be an iron man team. 6 maybe 7 scholarship athletes. Somehow/some way we need to make sure this doesn't happen again. Other teams don't seem to have this problem as often as we do.

To be fair did not Louie only play 6-7 at most?
I recall Mark
Jackson, Jayson Williams considering transferring because of lack of PT
I don’t think we went deep into the bench back then even though bench players ( unlike this year) were available,

Up to about five years ago players either were reluctant to transfer because of the sitting out a season requirement or opposing coaches didn't actively recruit transfers. That is no longer the case and with grad students given immediate eligibility the number of transfers is increasing every year.
If the NCAA goes through with the proposal to allow immediate eligibility on all transfers the number of transfers will explode and team rosters will change drastically every year. The grass is always greener.

I don't think anyone expected this close of a game at the Dunk on senior day. The one take away is that the 5 or 6 players that have been playing since the LoVett absence have never backed down from any team.
Today I thought Owens was the best player on the floor followed by Marvin Clark. It is ironic that the guy who won the Butler game for us, Justin Simon, lost the game for us today. A few of his turnovers today were lazy passes directly into the hands of a Friar defensive player. Of the 10 turnovers, I think Providence converted 9 of them into points. That's an 18 point differential. I'm not sure if we ever had one player commit as many turnovers.
Of course this team also is full of drama and today, to make matters worse, we had 3 guys not able to play with seemingly minor medical issues. The Trimble drama, if true, would test any coach's patience. Mullin now realizes what Lavin went through with Jordan and Obekpa his last year which was a year we should have reached the Sweet 16 with all the upper classmen. Hopefully Mullin rules with an iron hand here if the gossip is true.

Was told Bryan Trimble Jr. was available. It was a coach's decision. #sjubb
Here's what someone said, per attending the game.... Sounded like Trimble was pissed for being yanked.

Trimble is done, Mullin isn't Lavin.
Mullin won't be having that bs.

I'd be surprised to see him Wednesday night.

No idea if the Trimble story is true but if it Is this kid needs to evaluate his game. Won’t see any high majors banging down his door.

Don’t know, but maybe it’s a “hissy fit” that following a frank talk with the coach can be ‘forgiven’ with the player apologizing and the coach, and the team accepting it and moving on...together.
Or maybe, separately.
But, we need ‘roster stability’ and Trimble transferring (along with Yakwe) at this late date would damage that.
The last thing we need or want is a thin bench again next year.

Agree we need roster stability, but we also need behavior stability. Coach Mullin has shown he won't tolerate nonsense (which is why Obekpa left). Maybe it was no big deal. Either way, staff will deal with it.

Obekpa and Jordan rejected Chris Mullin’s ‘regime’ and so left.
Trimble may have indeed had a ‘hissy fit’’ and I agree has to experience an epiphany about his game—but Trimble’s ‘rebellion’ may have been merely ‘impulsive’ and hence can be forgiven.
Don’t know. Hope that’s the case.
But, like you say, this staff will definitely deal with it.

Kid probably got used to becoming first off bench more recently and averaging 18+ min, and now Ali B gets two starts w/ a guard out and he gets yanked after one play.

He'll either need to adjust to what next seasons role will be or perhaps he will think there are greener pastures elsewhere.

I can't believe this board is running people out the door. We are a team that can't fill it's roster.

Mullin has successful chased away:

Rico, Fruedenberg, Ellison, Sima, Williams, Lovett, Wilson, and Slice (now I've always said getting rid of Slice was a positive).

If we add Yakwe and Trimble to that it's a pretty clear trend and Mullin has to start looking inward because he is the only constant in those 10 scenarios.

The season is not over yet. More may leave or more may come. No matter how you spin it we don't want players here who don't want to be here. The stability starts when you are honest with kids when you recruit them. Trimble has very little upside with the guards coming in and was a last minute decision when Mullin faced last year's exodus. As long as all these departures don't affect the main core of players, players like Trimble and Freudenberg are expendable if you replace them with better talent. The only two players that should have stayed were Sima and Ellison.

If Trimble refused to go in, he needs to be gone, Mullin has to set an example.
When I want you to go in, do not refuse me. If you do, you're off the team.

If Trimble an Yakwe, no biggie. Trimble was a 3 star out of HS? and what has Yakwe down? ok draw charges. I'd take Dixon over Trimble and Keita over Yakwe.

Short memories on our part. Harrison could have been banished for his transgression but turned himself around and become a beloved player

Thanks.
Our trust in our staff is growing. It’s so much more positive than a year, six months, two months ago. The program is going in the right direction.

I don't think "chased away" is the right term to use for all of these players you named. Regardless, he inherited a program with an empty cupboard. It was to be expected that he'd have to recruit better talent over the players he brought in for the first couple of classes, which in effect may have led them to leave.
