Yeah, my initial reaction was to send him packing. I've since taken a deep breath and considered the following:

1. We don't really know exactly what happened.

2. The kid has been a very solid freshman contributor and seemingly good teammate

3. We are not in a position to expend players who have proven to be capable contributors

4. He is a young kid. See Beast's DLo point.

I can't believe this board is running people out the door. We are a team that can't fill it's roster.

Mullin has successful chased away:

Rico, Fruedenberg, Ellison, Sima, Williams, Lovett, Wilson, and Slice (now I've always said getting rid of Slice was a positive).

If we add Yakwe and Trimble to that it's a pretty clear trend and Mullin has to start looking inward because he is the only constant in those 10 scenarios.
I don't think "chased away" is the right term to use for all of these players you named. Regardless, he inherited a program with an empty cupboard. It was to be expected that he'd have to recruit better talent over the players he brought in for the first couple of classes, which in effect may have led them to leave.
That's part of the problem, it was expected he'd recruit better talent (or at least somebody) to replace the guys we lost, it's year three and that hasn't happened. Having Ellison, Rico, or Sima around would have been nice to spell these guys. At the very least we wouldn't have been playing with 5 scholarship like it was 2004 all over again.
St John's Providence recap:http://www.bigeastboards.com/
I truly feel for Mrs. Fun so the only recommendation I have for you, since you have somewhat reverted back to the despicable Dr. Fun we all love....to hate, is do NOT retire for her sake. Also, next year should things go south again you could be writing pulitzer on-line-journalism worthy material. And even you are coming around to realizing that our knucklehead coach provides almost as much material as my idol, Steve Lavin, the greatest coach at St. John's in the past quarter century.B)

First I don't think he is a freshman isn't he a transfer
Second you cannot tolerate what he did. Refusing to go in when he knows the roster is Thin?
I dontg want to see him on the court again
Don't forget it also hurts those kids playing their hearts out
Send him packing

Dee, he is a freshman and we really have no idea what actually transpired. He was not at 100 % the previous game. It's just hard for me to wrap my head around the situation described. Hopefully what was reported was only part of the story.

You've got to run the ball up the court, take a crazy-ass three and hope some dopey Friar fouls you in the act....it's not like that hasn't happened in the history of basketball.

I remember in their heyday, the Knicks, won a game where they were down by something like 15 points with a minute and change to go...crazy things do happen ask Louisville.
