Just because there's some facts to your argument doesn't mean fallacies aren't present.

Ron Rowan played 17 minutes a game during his freshman season at Notre Dame. I believe he dealt with some injuries his sophomore season prior to transferring. Rowan only played 11 minutes a game as a fourth year junior at St. John's. He was a fifth year senior when he started on the one seed team. I'm fairly confident in saying he would've major minutes had he stayed at Notre Dame.

I liked Rowan, so I'm not knocking him, but merely poking holes in your argument.
Didn’t do a deep dive into Ron Rowan’s ND career but fact is he didn’t really play there and he did here.
His junior year here some guy named Mullin played his position so um…..mins would have been hard to come by.

How the hell does this coaching staff allow Curbelo to eat popcorn on the bench during a game? F*cking ridiculous. He immediately should have been sent to the locker room and then suspended. That's one of the reasons I can't get behind this staff. Among others, as so many have stated.
Been watching college basketball for over 40 yrs. Never ever saw that before. Ridiculous

Two small guards makes it difficult to trap and press as taller guards can just throw the ball right over the top. So that in particular wasn’t thought through when it comes to size.

As far as offense I’m less convinced the size of the guys was an issue. Neither can shoot from three and you just can’t play two guards like that together in 2023. Teams just pack it in and make it very impossible for anyone to drive to the basket. Which is Jones greatest strength by far.

So the idea of Cuberlo AND Jones being effective, with Posh, is very difficult to comprehend once you see the two transfers games. A college coach is coach/GM and with the current rules I don’t envy them either role. But they get paid well to do it and the goal isn’t just to accumulate talent it’s to accumulate complimentary talent. I don’t know how they watched tape and thought Jones and Curbelo together was going to be the best idea of the two scholarships available. There was about a million guys in the portal to look at.

No pass from me, and I don’t even remember what I thought about it all when it went down. I would figure I thought it was all a great idea at the time as I am generally optimistic as a fan. But right away in the easy OOC games you could see how bad the overall fits were and again this staff had tape to review and should have known the players strengths and weaknesses. I don’t do that for a living.

Also in this era of free transfer SJU had a huge advantage as they were one of only a handful of teams who had no transfers out. That should have made it easier to identify guys who complimented the returning players instead of guys with the same strengths and flaws.

He was 6'5", so he could've played either the two or three positions. The fact is at times there's more than one reason why something may have occurred. As, I stated Rowan logged 17 minutes a game as a true freshman at Notre Dame.

Pinzon not running back is not a deficiency it is a choice.
Wheeler was on a perennial good team, ST John’s is awful
Matt Brust played in 3 games at UNC and was a 3 year starter here
Ron Rowan didn’t play at ND and was a starter here.
For what it is worth this kind of thing can go both ways.

Roshown McLeod was a bench player for two seasons at SJU and transferred to Duke and started there. He was a significant player for two seasons for the Blue Devils and then became a first round draft pick for the Atlanta Hawks.

Tariq Owens transferred to Texas Tech as a senior and started on a team that went to the NCAA championship game.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t play any games at carnesecca arena and all at MSG.
I don't think we can book that many with msg. Also if you play less than 5 games at an arena it is NOT considered a home court for ncaa assignments. So theoretically if we ever got into the ncaa and msg was one of the arenas we could be assigned to play there. Of course getting into the big dance is a dream

McLeod should not have been a bench player here. He got Mahoney’d

That is true but it doesn't change the point that these things can go both ways. Sometimes a change of scenery enhances a player's success and sometimes it doesn't. Nick Rutherford transferred here in a clear step up in competition but probably played better for us than he did at a lower level.

Noticed that Curbelo was giving support to players coming out of the game .
Lets give him the lady bing. He wants back on the court. We dont know if the staff trusts him. Will he take 10 minutes a game and do whats wanted? That is the way for the staff to know if he's worth the bother. If he turned it around would the players want him back?

And ya got wasu going to the hoop. maybe he could stand in the corner to spread the court.

do you understand that StJohn’s must guarantee a certain number of paid attendance?

Years agoI heard that StJohn’s must guarantee a paid attendance of 7,000. I recently heard that the 7,000 is outdated and now substantially more.

So, in addition to scheduling conflicts with the Knicks and the Rangers the number of games StJohn’s plays at MSG is a business decision as much as anathletic scheduling issue.

What about baseball players? They are constantly eating in the dugout, mainly seeds.
