Providence Game

Zach has a sense of humor I'd say;

@NYPost_Brazille: I write a critical column and #sjubb lands a big recruit and gets a big win. You're welcome, St John's fans.

well then I look forward to another Zach job this week so we can get the Greek kid and a win at Depaul

@CESPN1: Steve Lavin: "The bench was instrumental in the first half and I thought Rysheed returned to form." #sjubb

Sour comment?

@CESPN1: Ed Cooley: "I don't think this is about St. John's. It was our lack of focus." #pcbb

Very nice bounce back win by this team. I didn't think they would win this game. Amar played well and I would like to see more of him. As he gains confidence I think he can be a very useful player. Since Amar can also pop outside and hit a 3pt shot, I would like to see and Obepka in the game at the same time. JDR and Balamou also had decent performances the limited minutes they were in the game which is a good sign.

We will need our three guards to take over games the way they did today from here on in. Jordan has to get better and better every game from here on in. Dom was money from the line down the stretch. we need to win four of the next five games to really put us in good position down the stretch this was a very good start.

Fantastic win all around. Can't say enough good things about our players tonight. Just an outstanding performance by them in holding that lead. And you have to give credit to Lavin and the coaching staff for keeping the kids composed out there. Called timeouts when needed and kept the players fresh.

Couldn't stop thinking about how PC effectively ended our season last year. This one felt real good tonight

Most importantly this win moves mjmaherjr up the charts in the weekly big east pickem contest with so many people predicting losses for us today :)

Great win! These kids are super easy to root for. As noted, they just have a ton of heart.

I was especially pleased to see Amar get some minutes and a couple of rebounds. It's no secret that we need another contributor under the basket. I have no idea why he didn't see more time, or get a decent chance to acclimate, during non-conference play. Just another Lavin wonder.

Jamal cutting his hand and not being able to play is just classic St. John's. If you root for this program, you just know.......

So proud of the players. Excellent win. Hoping to get another one on Sunday.

maybe it was Jordan's handlers pulling a Tony Harding-Nancy Kerrigan on him :)

Lavin should have given our subs more time in the preseason to see what they could do and give them exp. that said, good use of our subs. I think Sheed should start next game,assuming Branch can go.played well. It was nice to see Amar not camped out on the perimeter. We need him inside, unless he plays w CO and Dom.
