Providence Game

Pointer is the biggest ass in red storm history. WTF is he doing

That's harsh. Granted, the kid made a dumb play, but he plays with passion and I don't have a problem with that. "Biggest ass" ever? I don't think so.

They trapped him in the corner. They hadn't backed off defensively.

EXACTLY. 110% right. All the blowhards on here will attack Dom and his character for this. Give it a break, this teams too soft to begin with we need an edge, a little grit. Not to mention they were pressuring hard on defense he had every right to take it to the hoop.

Lavin and Cooley handshake was cringe worthy

Cooley was a lot more cordial when he won...win or lose, Lavin always shows the opposing coach courtesy

All you MF'ers who didn't give up on this team - Thanks! We are getting rewarded now.

No Beast, all St Johns fans are being rewarded. We all want to see them win.
Being delusional a month ago doesn't make you a better fan.

Well said Desco. Nice response to idiotic comment.

We win the game (a key win on the road), and all some can talk about is Pointer's dunk attempt in garbage time. LOL

No wonder I've stayed away from this place.

Was it me or were you surprised as well that we changed to zone early in the first half. Afterall, the Friars are good three point shooters. What a difference in our offense once Harrison picked up his fourth foul, no one wanted to take over. Here I'm thinking again no one will want to play us in any of the tournaments and Providence knocks our lead down to 6 points. We could not lose this game, we could not lose this game, we could not lose this game. Way to maintain the lead.
We will defeat Creighton on Sunday, bet the ranch, ccnobz.

If this team goes on a run it doesn't excuse the ineptitude we all saw the first two and half months of the season. We're still probably an NIT team.

I hope Lavin suspends pointer. That was dumb and classless

Dumb? Yes.

Suspend him? Please!

I'm sure Pointer is getting an earful about not doing dumb things with the game in the bag.

Once I was at an AAU tournament, with our team getting ready to take the court as the prior game finished. With about 20 seconds left and a team up comfortably by 7, the best player on the winning team submarines a kid on the way to the hoop. Flagrant foul. The kid then slams the ball on the floor as the ref calls the foul. T #1. She goes back to the bench as the kid goes to the line all alone. Kicks a chair loudly onto the court. Tech #2. Team gets 6 foul shots plus the ball. Kid makes all six. they get the ball back and scores. Game over. The kid who melted down was the coach's kid. As the game end, the coach screams to the ref. "Hey, shove it up your...' and throws another chair. My all time favorite comeback

Not many who didn't give up on 'em.

Speak for yourself. There's a BIG difference between getting frustrated and Giving up.

I know folks were frustrated (as, well as they should've been). But I'm also confident in saying some folks gave up.

Stay away for a few minutes...let us revel for a few

Great win! They gave me a heart attack at the end with the near meltdown, but for almost 30 minutes we saw Fordham game level efficiency out of this team. The pieces are starting to come together, but we still need to make sure not to let up. A big difference was that we came out in the second half and were able to push the lead up to 23 instead of hanging around 15. That's the difference between Providence coming within 5 or 6 and coming all the way back.

Now, I don't normally complain about officating, but these guys were awful. We got away with 4 or 5 travels, Cotton got away with one, but the big thing is that providence got away with double digit illegal screens. On the Cotton 4 point play, Batts gave a forearm to one St.John's player and then hip checked Jordan. 2 illegal movements on the same play. If basketball doesn't work out for him, there are plenty of NFL teams that would love to have an offensive linemen that can chip two defenders in pass protection. It was an absolute joke and we would have been up 30 if not for all of these missed calls. Jordan literally had to almost flop to accentuate an illegal screen in order to get one of these called. Funny/sad thing is, there were probably about 15 that were worse than the one they DID call.

Hey I wasn't talking about you, but if you feel guilty, read the posts that shredded every single player and coach, who wanted Lavin fired on the spot. Specifically I was talking about the guys who stayed with the team.

Delusional is an inappropriate confidence that the team would straighten out. We are straightening out. That's not delusional, that's patience.

Look it was a great win. Lets enjoy it. There is no vindication yet. Vindication comes if somehow we get into the NCAA tourney team. Bottom line is this is how the team should have been playing all year. no excuses.

Now let's take care of Creighton and give them a Garden Beatdown on sunday and lets all go to the game and root like hell because these kids are finally playing to their potential
