Providence Game

Watching the highlights on SNY and noticing that Jakarr is the closest one to Cotton on many of his threes. I bet PC was looking to rotate the ball to find that look and some confusion in our zone. I'm disappointed in the loss, but love the effort.

This loss is costly for the tournament, but I don't get crazy over it. Our team is resetting itself now for next year and we saw some really good things tonight. Team is definitely improving. Shooters are needed, but I think the challenge will be Coach figuring out how to get Marco and Hooper in next year without them hurting us on D.

we might not even make the nit now most likely lose last three.

You have to play the games, so before we put up the three loses let's see how the play in South Bend. Let's see if we have their number this season.

Some really encouraging things tonight, despite the loss. Could have won this one, but:

1. Sampson seems like he's ready to take charge; not a freshman any more
2. Obepka is rebounding better, showed a little on O and looks like a real team leader of the future.
3. Sanchez on the bench!
4. Pointer and Phil working hard and complimenting in many respects.
5. Balamou made a few good plays, should see more time.
6. Kids played with heart and as a team, for the most part.

I am glad that the tam did not lose by 2 or less, as that putrid goaltend call should not have decided this game.

I think this team will be very good next year, with the additions, with or without DLo (hopefully with).

Over the summer CO has to be able to hit 60-65 % of his free throws.. They should keep him in the gym until his tongue hangs out practicing.. Otherwise, fouling him turns into a empty trip for us. Great defensively and you ave to love the kid's effort on every play but, free throws are important in close games.

It was great effort by this team with all that has been going on. The game was there for the taking. I think that Borgault has to get more minutes than Balamou at this point. Balamou commits too many fouls at this point and even though Borgault missed a few tonight, he's a capable shooter and he will get hot if allowed to play for a while and get in to the flow of the game. This team needs to get Borgault going at this point. He needs more minutes. I think Branch will improve as his health does and Greene is playing hurt and so I think he will be up and down the rest of the year.

I think he will get better in that respect. He's shown that he can improve and take coaching (see his rebounding). I like the kid and his skill set. I don't know if 65%, but I think he'll get better.

Great effort. It took a 4 point play by Cotton to beat us. As I stated in an earlier thread, this team would have been more developed we're it not for DLo who hindered te development if several players including Balamou. I am very proud of ths team. But this magnifies the need for Lavin to bring in someone who can shoot the ball. Marco had open looks and missed.

In any event, they were more enjoyable to watch then any time when Harrison played on this team.

Really? You consider two shots "open looks."? One was right in the cylinder and one was a tad short. Bourgault can play a little and should have gotten more minutes IMO. I think Greene has gotten more than enough time to prove he is what he is; a poor shooter and a fair player at best.

As someone noted earlier he should have faked a injury, the ref was almost trying to convince him that he was hurt since nobody wanted to see him take free throws. Despite that Obekpa is obviously my favorite player.

True, although he is 7-10 since the G'Town game (including tonight). If he keeps working on that hook shot, he'll be awfully tough down low for us.

Good one, Mr. Optimist.

There's an old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all".

One positve tonight might turn out to be a negative overall. That was the play of Sampson. He's the main guy for us now offensively and if he starts putting up some big numbers the rest of the way he might work his way up the draft board. I hope to God he stays one more year.

I think Coach may have been leaning toward the defense tonight and was likely not happy with Marco on that end. Phil played fairly well overall and was good on D. Our rotations on Cotton were not good, but otherwise we played well on that end.

Agreed. Greene needs to take shots early if he's hot leave him in but if not put him on the bench his defense is nothing special ill take balamouu out Rhee over him anyday

That was a very costly air ball 3 by Greene late in the game.. 4-16 shooting speaks volumes for a guy who is suppose to be a shooting guard? And, no Marco .. Steve, Bourgault can't score from the bench.

Harrison? Wasn't missed as far as I could tell..Team Chemistry actually looked better all thru the game..But, this is a gang that can't shoot, even open looks..

Well he always says I'm just being honest, but honestly I don't want to here your honesty after every loss ok so go celebrate the loss somewhere else

I've had enough of this Phil Greene stuff. The guy can't drive, shoot or run the point. I don't know what Lavin's fetish is with him but he is killing the team. Absolutely killing them.

Is it me or does it seem like every time come up the floor our guys never hit the guy who initially wide open on the wing for jumper? It happened about four times tonight that I noticed. They always rotate the ball to the opposite side when the guy on the other side of the floor is wide open initially.
